My problem is;
I bought the system on 12/18/2016 Microcenter NY Long Island/Westbury.
For the first time we installed everyting else and tried some games but the system frozens randomly even in game or during windows desktop with some weird symbols and distorted graphics.
Sometimes you can continue playing game but no change on the monitor (1st youtube link; you can hear the racing cars are moving, engine sounds but no change on the monitor).

1st youtube link as follows;

ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX-GTX1080-A8G-GAMING 8GB GDDR5X Video Card PART 2/2

Sometimes directly distorted screen and reset itself 4 or 5 seconds later (Even in game and on the desktop while doing nothing).

2nd youtube link as follows;

I attached the photographs (No Screen Shot as the system already frozen...).

Trials for understanding and solving;

From the internet and forums I found some people are having the same issue;
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3134365/panic-gtx-1080-freezes.html

-We have two systems having the same specs with my brother(ASUS GTX 1080 and the rest...). My brother's computer is perfect and stable, having no issues. While we swapped the graphic cards we encountered the same problem with my brother's system using my GTX 1080 which we are sure is defective. And on my computer with the other ASUS GTX 1080 it was perfect no problem even in game and during windows desktop.

-Tried HDMI connection, same issues, no change.

-Tried old NVIDIA Drivers (Version: 376.19 - Release Date: Mon Dec 05, 2016) same issues, no change.

I requested support from local Asus Center from Turkey and within 48 hours, they told me it's a product that they can not support. They advised me to contact with Asus United States.

So I sent my request to Asus United States. 4 days passed, no answer... My mail request ID is WTM20170102200720279.

I am living in Turkey but have chance to send it back to US NY. One of my friend is living there and will help me sending/returning the card to Microcenter or directly Asus.

So, anybody officialy has another idea for solution regarding problems. If no, should I return it back to Microcenter NY Long Island/Westbury or is there a way to send it from New York to directly Asus for a replacement? And will the Asus accept this article as a reference to understand the GTX 1080's problem and apply the procedures/replacement faster. If so, I will print out this article and put the copy inside the box of GTX 1080 or if there is an e-mail address any officials can provide me I can send this article/link.

Thank you very much.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I had the exact same issue with my ROG-STRIX-GTX1080TI-O11G-GAMING 1080 TI and just assumed it was dead. Tried changing the power supply but no luck.

Hello,

1. If using a PCIE Riser remove and connect directly to the motherboard.

2. Try using an alternative PCIE Slot or system if possible.

3. If behaviour continues the GPU is likely faulty.
