Hi _RC_

I just got finished installing the anniversary update, I can run unigine valley and compare my previous score. I have to install the new NVidia driver so it will be a little while then I'll let you know my results.

I had some performance issues when benchmarking or playing games, it dissapeared after I did these 2 "tweaks", see if it helps you.

1. Go to the xbox app > settings > game DVR, turn this off. (I believe this is XBOX version of Shadowplay, sorta)

2. Go to Steam > settings > inteface > DirectWrite, disable. (DirectWrite smothens out text in Steam, honestly I dont notice much difference)

After doing these 2 "fixes" everything is running as before and benchmark results the same

I had to install nvidia display driver again after that update, some games seemed to start crashing. But otherwise it works like before now.

On my PC during the install of Nvidia Driver 372.54 PC rebooted to finish install , but after install PC was freezing , I rebooted again and all is fine after a second reboot after the driver install. 2 reboots seem to fix some install issue

I had freezing too after the initial upgrade to the windows 10 anniversary, a reboot and things are back to normal.

I ran the unigine valley benchmark to see if there was any difference in scores after updating the NVidia driver and windows 10 anniversary and my scrores are pretty much the same.

Before updating:

FPS - 111.1
Score - 4647
Min.FPS - 48.5
Max FPS - 191.9

After updating the NVidia driver and windows 10 anniversary:

FPS - 110.7
Score 4633
Min. FPS 50.1
Max FPS 189.3

Score is basically the same.

One note on the Nvidia Driver 372.54 , There maybe a Hot Fix coming soon from Nvidia even though driver 372.54 was just released . That's the Rumor at Nvidia

I wish I didn't upgrade to the windows 10 anniversary, I disabled Cortana in the custom settings during the update and after it was done updating it said this version of windows doesn't support classic shell and windows uninstalled it so now I have no search bar.

No big deal I guess, I had Microsoft answer desk try and fix it but they couldn't so one of their engineers is going to call me tomorrow, too bad I'm not going to be home.

I just came across this let's see if it works.

It works and the search bar does too, no need for them to call me now. 🙂

Thanks Nate, I have been avoiding this update

For the OP I have avoided this update myself, can you uninstall the update?

I been using the anniversary update for a little while and it seems ok, I have no regrets upgrading now that classic shell works. 🙂

After the update it did freeze to a BSOD when I opended IExplorer but after a reboot all is good. With Doom performance is a little better with the anniversary update and the new NVidia driver, maybe something to do with Vulkan.

I'm not sorry I upgraded to windows 10 anniversary. 🙂
