ello folks
as some of u know ive hit a bit of a stumbling block when trying to sli my 2 palit gtx 670's. as these cards r 2.5 slot cards i have to install the second card in the 3rd pci-e slot but the connectors on the left side of my front panel header are stopping the card from sitting right. its just the hdd activity led and the power led.
i can't rma the card unless its faulty as somebody gifted them to me. so i have 4 options

1..go watercooled but can't afford to.
2.. cut a small piece off the cards cooler
3.. buy an aftermarket cooler
4.. find someone that will sell a 2 slot cooler off a card they changed to waterblocks

ive looked and can only find a couple of aftermarket coolers from arctic but im not liking the look of them. they look cheap.

any idea's would be very much apreciated folks.
heres a couple of pics to show what i mean

edit: the 4thpic is wrong. its the 3rd pic that should have been there but i could'nt delete it

stacked power socket: http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/assistant/vga/chip/251
w/o stacked power socket: http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/assistant/vga/chip/257
take a look at those ( only one i could find as per now ) but they cost around $70 + shipping
to be on the safe side, wright a mail to them and ask if the coolers will fit your cards, so you dont buy enny thing that dont fit.

ello chap.
cheers for the links mate. they're the one id found too lol. its looking more and more like dremmeling the cooler is the best option so far but i really dont wanna do it. what a f****n nightmare. no matter what i do is gonna void the warranty enit

edit: does the hdd led and power led need to be connected? or will everythin be ok without them?

No, they don't. You can disconnect them. Your only loss will be not able to see the flashing HDD light from your case and your power on light. 😛

Technically, the only connector you need from those bunch of connectors is the Power Connector which is used for your power on button.

Edit: You should also check if taking off the stock cooler voids your warranty. 😛

thats good news. i'll try it without the led's connected which should sort it as the others look well clear.

yup i knew whatever i did would void the warranty which is why i did'nt want to do either really but i would have rather lost the warranty than not be able to use the card lol. may sound odd but at the end of the day i could'nt really lose out. not finacially anyway 😄

hopefully those connectors removed should sort it though. also still have to test the second card again as it was red screening. the one has'nt red screened since i uninstalled aida tho so touch wood thats all that was causing the red screens 😄

i'll update on weather i get it in or not 2moz
cheers folks

Yeap, Chino is right, you don't have to connect the HDD and power LEDs... I'm not connecting anything beside the power connectors, as I'm using a test bench, and everything is working just fine!
