GTX680 DCUII 4GB vs 2GB

Hey guys i have been torn for the longest time on what 680 to get, because i love the DCUII TOP card but need 4 gb vram, which i thought was only made by evga, whom i personally dont like all that much. This was until i stumbled upon the asus DCUII 4gb version. Performance-wise, what are the differences between the 4 gb version and say the 2gb TOP card.

I do realize its dual slot only, but why? It also appears to be running at stock clocks.
How does the cooling compare to the 3-slot?

I want to squeeze all the performance i can out of a 680, but without sacrificing vram size.
