Gtx1070 oc is faster than gtx 1080 !!!!

I am looking at GPU clock speeds and GTX 1070 have both faster base clock speed and boost clock speeds than GTX 1080 it is even more confusing when i saw 1080ti is slower than both of them. can anyone explian how these numbers make sense? i know 1080ti has much more memory, but 1080 and 1070 both have same amount of memory, but 1070 have higher clock speed. can anyone explain to me why 1080 performs better. and what is the number that represent its performance if not clock speed? is it the number of cuda cores? like cpu ? more core=more speed?

hi, sina In , reality most 3A games don not support recently. unless you own or
need get high resolution e.g 3840x2160P or higher, that SLI would be useful

thanks a lot this chart is very helpful man. i didn't know that they have better memory bandwidth as well. now it all make sense to me. although clock speeds are vry diffrent from what i have red on rog website. and i am not talking about oc speeds. some 1070s have better clock speeds than 1080s

Yes but look at the difference in Cuda cores, in CPU terms, similar to a 4 core 7700K to a 6950X the 4 core CPU clocks much higher than the 10 core CPU but the 10 core can do a lot more work and generates more heat output if you notice the TDP
The 1080 is a more powerful card than the 1070 nut not needed if gaming at 1080p, if gaming at 2560x1440 , 144hz then a 1080 would be the better choice

You might also consider Sina, and that's not listed in the chart, that 1080 has GDDR5X memory speed comparing to the slower GDDR5 of the 1070.

Differences you may notice between same 1070's or same 1080's are due to AIB partner models, which differ from one another from clock speed speed and memory speed mainly.

Menthol explained perfectly why a 1070 has higher clock rather than a 1080.
