Gtx 1070 Strix reaching 80-90c in modern games - RMA needed?

Cpu: 6800k @ 4.2Ghz
Cooler: Corsair H100i v2
Mobo: Asus x99a-II
Gpu: GTX 1070 STRIX OC 8gb
Psu: EVGA G2 650W
Case: NZXT H440

My PC is housed in a NZXT H440 with 3x120mm frony case intake with hdd cages removed and 2x120mm Corsair h100i pulling air in at the top with 140mm exhaust fan.

The past 3 months I have noticed an increase in temps randomly. I used to only go upto 75c in Unigine Heaven but Im easily hitting 80+ and odd 85-87c with my highest overclock now with same overclock settings.

Ill do a xomplete clean of my PC tomorrow but its not dirty/dusty at all inside...
Ive watched countless 1070 vids on Youtube and never see people above 70c in games which in 80c+ in. Saw andromeda 1070 ultra test he had 60c on ultra while in 87c average on high.

All 3 fans spin when under load, 3x120mm front fans spin at 1k RPM, same with exhaust and cpu cooler at i think 1k rpm also. So theres tons of cold air being pulled inside as my room is generally cold..

Its going to suck to RMA as I dont have intel gpu. Should I RMA asap? Or is there any cecks I should do before doing an RMA.

Hi Stewpot

Try setting a fan curve or crank the fans to 100% with GPU Tweak II, this should lower temps a good bit.

They are currently at 70% and thats already very loud.. Surely thees still somehting wrong if 70% isnt enough to cool my GPU for example Im still hitting 80c in older games like Assassins Creed 3.

If i try 100% fan speed and tempz dont drop much,, should I RMA?

Crazy that my tempa are masively higher than others given its a Strix and lots of cold air being pulled in. It just screams faulty GPU?

Maybe reverse the H100 fans to exhaust out the top...would mean more balance between intake and exhaust and may well mean more cool air moves through the case. 5 fans trying to push air in and only one outlet at the moment...flow might be worse than you think?

Try removing the side panel for your case. See if that makes a difference in temperatures.

Yeah your temps are high, once the ROG Strix 1070 hits 70c thermal throttling starts so you want to keep below that.

Either your case is warmer than usual inside as Arne and Chino suggest or your ROG Strix 1070 is full of dust, with the fans cranked to 100% temps should be 60c-65c under full load.

I'd check for dust and if it looks clean you might need better airflow in your case.

Ill try 100% fan speed and with side panel off but my case is quite clean with odd spec of dust. See what temps im at..

If nothing changes I can try another case but its still crazy how jigh my temps are given its not dirty, lots of cold air being pulled in and strix is advertise with amazing cooling..

Just funny. Ill play about and see ill even potentially try another 1070.
