Can't get into BIOS with RTX 5090

I can't access my BIOS with the TUF RTX 5090. I have a black screen from boot all the way to Windows sign in. I'm running BIOS 4301 on my Z690 Extreme. The Z690 and 5090 are fully updated in Armoury Crate. If I plug an HDMI cable into the MB and boot on the iGPU I can see the ROG splash screen and can enter the BIOS. I tried clearing the CMOS with no luck as well. I also tried disabling Fast Boot with no luck. Thanks.

Hello Lude2Envy

I'm using the ROG Strix Z690-F Gaming Wifi with the ASUS Prime RTX 5080, no issues with a blank screen during start up.

Do you have the latest Nvidia driver installed? (576.52) - Driver Results | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 | Windows 11

You can check to see if you have the latest Vbios, there is one for the ASUS TUF RTX 5090 OC. - VGA Bios Collection | TechPowerUp

If yours is the TUF RTX 5090 OC:

1) Open the Nvidia Control Panel.

2) At the top left click Help.

3) Click System Information.

4) Scroll down until you come to Video BIOS version.

5) Compare yours to theirs.

Yes, I am using the latest Nvidia drivers. As far as the VBIOS, I'm on the road at the moment so I'll check when I get home later this week. If there's a VBIOS update, why is it offered through Tech Power UP instead of Asus' website?

My VBIOS is 98.02.2E.00.AA, but why isn't Asus putting out the update? I don't like the idea of updating it from a third party.

Comparing yours to theirs, the AB Version would be the latest. TechpowerUp is a trusted site as they have a Vbios collection for most graphics cards.

It could be worth trying if nothing is helping.

Have you updated the motherboard bios? Bios 4301 is the latest, I'm currently on 4101.

You could try shutting down your pc, turn off the psu switch for 5 seconds, boot up and see if this lets you enter the bios.

I flashed to VBIOS 98.02.2E.00.AB and now I'm showing the incorrect clock speeds in GPU-Z. ChatGPT says I'm showing the speeds for the non-OC'd version of the card. I am running BIOS 4301. That didn't do anything either. I've also tried completely powering down and powering back up. Still nothing. I'm going to flash back to the default VBIOS since my clock speeds are wrong.

Edit: I flashed back to the original OEM VBIOS. Everything appears back to normal now on that end. However, my CPU score in 3D Mark Time Spy Extreme has dropped 6,200 points, which I think may be from the 4301 Bios update.

Yes, TimeSpy CPU score is very sensitive to any latency changes. It nothing to do with VBIOS. Changes in the GPU have a very small impact on the CPU test score.

I understand it has nothing to do with the VBIOS. I said it dropped significantly after updating the MB BIOS to 4301.

Ok, cool.

You didn't seem sure 😀

Are you certain you didn't flash the Non-OC BIOS previously?

I only flashed it twice. Once to the BIOS that Nate152 recommended above - 98.02.2E.00.AB, and then flashed it back to the backup I made of the stock VBIOS.
