Can't get into BIOS with RTX 5090

I can't access my BIOS with the TUF RTX 5090. I have a black screen from boot all the way to Windows sign in. I'm running BIOS 4301 on my Z690 Extreme. The Z690 and 5090 are fully updated in Armoury Crate. If I plug an HDMI cable into the MB and boot on the iGPU I can see the ROG splash screen and can enter the BIOS. I tried clearing the CMOS with no luck as well. I also tried disabling Fast Boot with no luck. Thanks.

Yeah, I agree it's an odd issue.

Try my suggestion in my 3rd post with the HDMI cable, you can also do a startup repair.

That is if your monitor stays on. If your monitor goes off, try disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable.

I'm away until Wednesday so I'll revisit it when I get home. I've been doing a lot of reading online and on the AI apps. It sounds like its a BIOS issue. Do you know if Asus is aware and looking into this problem? It seems like there are others out there with the same issue.

I been researching it, the fixes I come across are what you already tried. Update motherboard bios, update Vbios, update graphics driver, clear cmos, etc.

I basically upgraded to what you did, Z690, 3090Ti to a 5080. Just swapped out the gpu's and was good to go, except for that little hiccup I had of the bios prompt not showing.

So, after you click Restart now, on the reboot it will say Please Wait with a spinning circle. Then, it should give you some options.

Click Advanced options and select UEFI Settings, it should reboot directly to the bios.

If that doesn't help, another option is Startup Repair. Try this if the UEFI Settings doesn't work.

If your monitor goes off while in the process, disconnect and reconnect your monitor cable.

On a side note - Did Nvidia provide any useful information?

Hey Nate. Well, I pulled my PC out from under my desk and dug my old Asus monitor out of the basement. Everything works just fine with both the HDMI and the Display Port on my old Asus monitor. The problem is clearly with my current LG monitor (LG 27GP950-B 27" Ultragear). I'm not sure why because it worked just fine with my EVGA 3090Ti FTW3 Ultra. I did check for firmware updates for the LG last week and there weren't any so........ I don't know. I guess that's case closed. If I figure out how to fix the issue between the 5090 and my LG monitor I'll let you know.

On a side note - BIOS 4301 severely nerfed the performance of my 14900K. I lost 16,000 points in Cinebench R23 alone, not to mention the hits I took in 3D Mark also. Everything is back to normal after rolling back to 4101.

Thanks again for all of your help trying to help me troubleshoot this. I really appreciate it.

Edit: I figured it out. My new monitor is a 4K monitor. My old one is a 1440P. I set the resolution to 1440P  in Windows and rebooted the PC. It works now. For some reason it won't show the splash screen or the BIOS in 4K. SMH.

Edit 2: At 1440p I was also able to boot into safe mode. I used the DDU tool to fully uninstall my Nvidia driver, then did a fresh install of the latest driver. Everything is working even with my resolution at 4K. All is good now.

I have this exact issue. The only way I see a splash screen or anything in the bios, I need to leave only one monitor plugged in. If I have 2 monitors plugged in, it's completely black until windows boot. Any resolutions ?

I just want to add that I have the exact same symptoms as described here. As @dandan112988 states, the issue for me is having two monitors plugged in. It works just fine with one. I have a 5080 TUF OC with an X870E-E GAMING WIFI. Both monitors are also ASUS connected with DP.

This appears to be a hand-off issue with the GPU. It might also be beneficial to contact NVIDIA to see their thoughts on it.

I've contacted NVIDIA, and after following some steps that didn't resolve it, I've filled out a driver feedback form reporting the issue. Not sure if I will get any follow-up or not.

I have the same issue. Cannot log into the bios with displayport. My monitor is giving no displayport signal until it arrives to the OS. With HDMI no issue but displayport doesn't work. RTX 5090+ gaming x870

Read my solution above.
