Asus Strix GTX980 Serial Number

Can someone please teach me how to read the serial number on Asus graphic card ?

What does all the alphabet and number stands for ?

My faulty GPU serial number is EBYVCM-----2

As Asus will be replacing my faulty 1 week old Strix GTX980, i want to make sure it's not a refurbish unit. As i don't want end up paying $1000 for a refurbish graphic card.

How do i check is it a refurbish or brand new unit ? Can it be read from the serial number ?

Hello sookainian

When doing an rma there is no guarantee you will get a brand new card. The best thing to do is a cross ship, that way you know they won't be sending you the same card back.

I don't think the serial numbers will tell you much.

what do you mean by cross ship ?

my local dist told me they will 1 to 1 change on the spot. But will that "new" replacement most likely be a refurbish set or new ? since there is no shipping involve

No, you cannot.
