asus strix gtx 1080 ti gpu clock strange behaviour - please need help

forgive me if this is a noob question, but i cannot find an answer, se please bear with me : i have my new 1080 ti on a clean windows 10 installation. i don't understand why certain games/benchmark, like unigine valley, when at full gpu load, run at max clock speed comportably (around 2.000 mhz, in OC mode, and with power target set at 120%, and + 100 gpu volt).... others, like furmark, run with an extremly lower clock (1.300 or even less for furmark), even if the actual power target is well below limits (< 80%), and gpu temps are low< 60 C°)... what am i missing here ? what mechanism is there in place that reduces the gpu clock speed even when the power consumption and gpu temps are low ? please help me understand ... previously, i had a 780ti, set to 1230 mhz of gpuclock, and it NEVER goes under that value when the power consumption and gpu temp are low...it always stay at 1230... i expected the 1080ti do the same (under heavy gpu load)

There is no need to run furmark, it's most likely in the driver to throttle the card because furmark is hot as hell. If you want to test or bench use unigine heaven or valley, or firestrike
