Asus Strix 2080 TI OC - Asus driver package or Nvidia ?

I have the Asus Strix 2080 TI OC

The driver downloads on the Asus site look to be quite a few versions behind current nvidia one's

Is it playing with fire to download and install the latest nvidia drivers or is it always best to wait for Asus to package and release?

Asus: 431.60
nvidia: 436.30 - WHQL

I've seen a lot of posts by people who have issues, hence why I'm asking first before proceeding to just update using nvidia drivers directly from their site
