Hello
I saw new presentation Asus rog ally X
And I have 1 question
How I must use my XG mobile EGPU in new ASUS rog Ally??
Will Asus provide some kind of adapter for this video card? or how? Did I throw away $2000?

I saw that too. I'm sure with an adapter to both usb-c ports, it could work. Then the interesting thing, if the ports are the same distance apart as a MacBook Pro, Surface Pro 8, Samsung Galaxy Book Ultra and other devices, will they also support this egpu or would they make the software asus only?

Yeah I'd likely upgrade to the X if they make an adapter to hook up my current XG. Without that I'm staying with mine

It's unbelievable ... Rog Ally X with 23Go Ram (1Go lost do 780m) was the perfect size for the combo Ally/Xg mobile.
Thunderbolt 4 eGPU even with 4090 Desktop can't match the XG Mobile 4090 plugged in Pci Express 4.0 8X
After, i think that people using the Ally with XG Mobile represents very very few users of Ally ... 4090 have a price with non sense, 3080 is still expensive and hard to find, only the 6850 is "cheaper" and easy to find but 800€ for the perf are too high ...

Never say never, but AFAIK there are currently no plans for an adapter. I'd surmise that the reasoning was very low uptake. Dual USB-C is a welcome addition for me.

You are right, I agree with you.

Asus definitely should drop an adapter. I just spent 2k on the 4090. Shake my head.

By ASUS not providing a way for us to use our XG Mobile devices with their latest ROG Ally X is going to be a showstopper for me... tbh i think the ROG Ally w/ XG Mobile > ROG Ally X in terms of performance based on what i'm seeing...
