Just bought an Asus prime 5080 (non oc), and when I plugged it in, the red power light went on, and stays on when the pc is running.
Maximus Hero Z790 and Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1050W PSU
Everything I have tried to resolve this issue:
Updating motherboard BIOS (v3001)
DDUing and clean installing nvidia drivers (Game Ready 581.42)
Manually setting BIOS to use PCIe 5.0 instead of Auto
Re-seating and inspecting the 12vhpwr cable at both ends. (My PSU uses a double sided cable that is the same on both sides) I have also re-seated the GPU.
Apart from the red light, everything else works exactly how it should. GPU-Z reports no issues, all my ROPs are there, and it runs at PCIe gen 5 like it should. An OCCT test under full load brings the power draw to 360W, just like it should. No melting cables, no issues. 3Dmark tests perform like they should, the GPU is exactly at average for a 5080. The gpu doesn't overheat, it stays under 70C at full load. (This gpu is also crazy quiet) Windows and the nvidia app detect the GPU properly.
In other words, it works fine, there are no issues, but the red power light is on. I have seen some other posts elsewhere that say that their 50 series card, especially Asus 50 series cards, do this as well. Is this something that I can ignore, or do I need to RMA?
