ASUS Graphics Cards STRIX-GTX980-DC2OC-4GD5 power cables

Greetings,

I am have two ASUS Graphics Cards STRIX-GTX980-DC2OC-4GD5s on my ASUS Rampage Extreme, in SLI.

What are the power cables provided in the box for? I noticed they have a Y cable with 6 & 6 connectors, but the Cards each have
8 & 6 power connectors!

I have a Corsair AX1500i power supply with a ton of cables. None of the individual cables look like they will connect to both of
the 8 & 6 connectors on the card. Am I suppose to use separate cables on the card(s)?

Many thanks and apologies if these are noob questions.

Hello Eyejon,

The included cables are useful for users who own PSUs that don't have the required PCIe cables. In your case, you have more than enough of them. So they are of no use to you. The Strix GTX 980 uses a 6 pin PCIe cable and a 8 pin PCIe cable. You can find a picture of how they look below.

Some users like to use a single cable to power their GPUs to keep the cable clutter down thus making their build look neater. Others use two separate cables. It's a matter of preference.

Many thanks Chino.
