On EK site they list several brands and models that there new block fits on and non of them are ASUS, of course that may mean that they have not verified with ASUS at this time
3 power connectors sound like these cards can pull a lot of amps when overclocked, but even if the card itself is pretty much reference having 3 power connectors, or extra/different sensors, etc. would indicate the card is not 100% reference. Most all Pascal cards have the same headroom, max overclock potential unless using extreme cooling solutions.
ASUS Strix models have always been one of the best models and highest overclocking cards available even if only by a small amount.
Unless you have inside information it's all speculation which is what we all do until we have facts, I searched on preorder day and was only able to obtain an EVGA Ultra which is a 3 slot card which I don't personally care for but most all of the highest end cards seem to have 3 slot coolers anymore or more than 2 slot, EVGA's cards have multiple sensors that other manufacturers don't have so are these sensors on reference cards but only available to EVGA or are the cards non reference, who knows at this time. Seems like we will be waiting until Sep. 20th to learn the facts

Just a guess but until stock of Pascal cards are gone Turing cards may be few and far between, also Nvidia may have a say in when custom cards are released since they sell cards themselves, although I have no inside information on any thing myself
