Front Base , how to make this thing run properly?

Hi ROG members.
Ok third attempt and this time this one came in working condition.
But it is showing static values for temp, CPU fan rpm, and MoBo temp, even (when I play game),only in desktop, nothing, values are all the time same.
It is also showing CPU fixed frequency of 3407 MHz which is not accurate.
Clock is showing -:-.
MoBo temp was nearly accurate as was the CPU fan speed but as I said it is always showing one fixed value.
I went to support site but I am a lot confused, what do I need to install to make this thing work?
Googling made me even more confused (links below).
So under support, what exactly do I need to install?
Should I install driver prior to hardware installation or after?
Do I need to install anything else besides driver?
I tried with Asus Rampage V Extreme MoBo and like I said it is showing fixed values.
I could hook up with my 2nd board Maximus VIII Formula.
In top right corner*I see code RSE,dunno what that means!!

Anyone please tell me what version of app, driver to install after installing front base to the case?
Do I need to install rog connect and other 3rd party apps?
I am on Maximus VIII Formula.

My recollection is that the Front Base had rather limited compatibility. Have you confirmed that it works with either of your boards? Also, if you do have a compatible board you want to make sure that the board has the latest BIOS. The Front Base also has a firmware that gets updated when you install the driver.

https://www.asus.com/me-en/supportonly/rog%20front%20base/helpdesk_download/
Front Base Driver:V1.01.28
FW:V57
and if you expand the Software section there is:
ROG Connect Plus

I am the second owner.Perhaps the first owner already updated firmware.
Will firmware update each time when driver is installed?
Regarding first question, I hope it will work, dunno, I am not an Asus employe.
And I am not updating BIOS just because of this, main reason is because my PC works without issues, and don't want to risk flashing BIOS and messing up the stuff with it.

The support site says the firmware is included with the driver. I'm not sure if the firmware is updated at the time of the driver install but it is most likely.

Is there a way to check if the firmware is updated?
So driver along with software should be installed prior or after hardware installation?

You install drivers after the hardware. A lot of driver packages won't even run if you don't have matching hardware installed.

Under compatibility in https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/accessory/ROG_Front_Base/E8673_Rog_Front_Base_QSG.pdf:
ROG Maximus VI series motherboards, Rampage IV
Black Edition motherboard, and other motherboards
that supports the ROG_EXT port

Page 1-45 of https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/MAXIMUS_VIII_FORMULA/E11081_MAXIMUS_VIII_FORMULA_UM_WE... tells me the board has the header and should be able to drive it. It even mentions the Front Base by name.

The problem I think you are facing is that the driver and tool have not been updated since 2015/2016. They are for Windows 10, but MS have changed the OS significantly since then. The OS changes don't hit normal software too badly over time, but drivers and things like hardware monitors are much more easily broken by major OS changes. I'm not saying there's no way, just it's possibly not easy.

There is a major difference between working and working correctly.
It works with my Rampage V Extreme which is probably older board then Front Base, but it shows static values, wIhich kinda sucks, and I paid 60 euros for this.

So far is working I think okay...the codes are recognized same as on MoBo...and probably temp is okay.
I have not installed driver at all.
Do I need to?
What do I get with driver installation?
Only the clock is not working but don't care about it.
