Hello, new build here with a Hero Z890 and a 265k.
Currently getting really frustrated with this PCI speed issue, as I already tried different settings in the bios to see if it goes to x16. Here's a list of what I tried:
Question regarding these settings, do we have to turn off pc and recheck or does it change after a simple reboot? Asking because after every change I'd press F10 and then re-renter bios to check the stated speed.
And yes I've triple checked the manual and If you only use the M.2_1 (socket3) there should be no lane sharing:
As you can see I'm using the correct slot for my 990 Evo Plus only the m.2_1 is occupied ( green dot)
Q dashboard showing GPU and M.2_1
SA Agents settings
HWInfo64 showing x8
GPU-Z showing x8 even when doing the little render test to avoid any power saving features
So at this point im really lost as im not sure if this is a setting i must change, a bios version bug or a problem with the Mobo itself (hopefully not cause i really don't want to RMA this and disassemble everything. Is there a specific driver that I might be missing? Is there a list i can show? After I installed windows I downloaded all the most recent drivers, Chipset, DTT, Intel ME ect... I updated the bios before OS installation.
Appreciate any help, including someone from Asus as searching online leads to closed and unsolved threads and people putting the ssd's on the wrong slots which is not my case.
Full spec list:
Re posting this as it's still a problem, and Asus decided to close my topic....

I have the exact same board with a 285K & 5070 TI and now on BIOS 1901. I had the exact same problem initially out of the box. After fiddling with the BIOS (for other reasons due to and eventually OC'ing plus a BIOS update (and maybe something else I changed), the issue resolved itself.
Did everything you had listed and eventually reset to default settings, but also turned off FAST BOOT in the BIOS and the Logoed boot and disabled the onboard video. I also pulled the card out a couple times for other reasons and reinserted eventually 16x appeared.
Not sure if anything of this is what fixed it, but worth a try.

Thanks for the info, I might try updating bios and reinsert the GPU to see if it helps.
Side question: How does it feel to pull the GPU out with this new lock system? Is it as bad as people say?

Tried it and felt like I was going to break something. I know this board is supposed to have some fancy Auto Unlock feature for the PCIE latch, but personally decided to not tempt fate and instead just used a long stick to gently press down on the latch while lifting the card out as shown in the manual. Worked like a charm.

Actually i found it super easy. Hold the card with your both hands with your left hand lift up the left side of the card then pull with both hands voila its out 🙂
