Z890 HERO 1501 BIOS PCI Link speed stuck @x8

Hello, new build here with a Hero Z890 and a 265k.

Currently getting really frustrated with this PCI speed issue, as I already tried different settings in the bios to see if it goes to x16. Here's a list of what I tried:

  • Changing modes on SA Configuration, auto gen4 and gen5;
  • Tried different settings on PCIe Bandwidth Bifurcation Configuration;
  • Check PCI connectors on the GPU and on the PSU side;

Question regarding these settings, do we have to turn off pc and recheck or does it change after a simple reboot? Asking because after every change I'd press F10 and then re-renter bios to check the stated speed.

And yes I've triple checked the manual and If you only use the M.2_1 (socket3) there should be no lane sharing:

As you can see I'm using the correct slot for my 990 Evo Plus only the m.2_1 is occupied ( green dot)

So at this point im really lost as im not sure if this is a setting i must change, a bios version bug or a problem with the Mobo itself (hopefully not cause i really don't want to RMA this and disassemble everything. Is there a specific driver that I might be missing? Is there a list i can show? After I installed windows I downloaded all the most recent drivers, Chipset, DTT, Intel ME ect... I updated the bios before OS installation.

Appreciate any help, including someone from Asus as searching online leads to closed and unsolved threads and people putting the ssd's on the wrong slots which is not my case.

Full spec list:

  • 265k ( stock for now as i want to resolve this first)
  • HERO z890
  • 4080 Super Suprim
  • Kingston FURY 48GB (2x24) CUDIMM DDR5-8400
  • 990 Evo plus 4tb

Same issue with an MSI 4070 super not been able to fix. Only thing i can think of checking with MSI if there is a new bios available to fix the issue with the Hero board.

I want to make sure this is an mobo/bios issue before messing with VBIOS, since I'm not the only one I'm hoping this is only a bios version bug which can hopefully be fixed on the next iteration. Going to bump this daily and if no ones responds I might to a ticket. I made this post in hopes we find a fix and then the next person to search this issue on the webz will find this
