Considering buying a Tuf Gaming Z890 Pro Wi-Fi motherboard, but I needed to get some clarifation surrounding Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 capabilities:
1. The board has 2x rear TB4 Type C connectors, as well as an internal Thunderbolt header for AIC. I thought the 2x rear TB4 type C ports were for connecting to onboard TB4 that is built into the motherboard. Am I wrong...do you also need to purchase an AIC. If the board has onboard built in TB4, then why the internal TB header?
2. Do the same two same rear connectors also enable USB4 transmission, and if so, at what maximum speed...40, 20, 10, or 5 Gbps?
Many thanks.

The 2 xTB4 ports on the back of the motherboard are 40Gbps, all Thunderbolt 3 and 4 are 40gbps. The thunderbolt header on the Motherboard is for Thunderbolt 5 addon cards that plug into the PCI-e. Those support 80Gbps. That would be an entirely separate connection from the ports on the back of the board.
There is also a 20GBps USB C header on the motherboard as well thats seperate.

Thanks. I called Asus yesterday as my real question was whether or not the USB4 speed in those TB4 ports was 40G or 20G. The USB4 is Gen 3, so they are indeed 40G USB ports.
