Rog Strix Z890-F wont boot with 4 RAM Sticks after BIOS update

Powers

Hey,
got a new System and everything [except of deactivating the iGPU cause of issues with Win11 24H2] worked fine.

SystemSpecs:
Rog Strix Z890-F Gaming WIFI
Intel Core Ultra 9 285k
Corsair, DIMM 96 GB DDR5-5600 (4x 24 GB) Quad-Kit - CMH96GX5M4B5600C40
RTX 3080FE

Tried the new BIOS Updates [0806 and 0902] and after these updates my RAM stops working, get a black screen after boot and the orange QLED lighting.  Only way to get it back to work is to flash the BIOS back to the first release version [0503]

A full PAssMark MemTest, with alls RAM Sticks inserted on BIOS version 0503 returns no error also the XMP Profile works fine.

I tried several things, its possible to boot with the new BIOS versions [0806 and 0902] with only 2 RAM Sticks inserted instead of 4, but thats no solution, need every MB of RAM in my workstation.

Changlog for BIOS Version 0806 included this statement:
4.Fixed compatibility issue with high-capacity DIMMs
For me it seems to do the opposite 😕

Please help,
Kind regards
Chris

Hi!

I'm experiencing the exact same issue with my ROG MAXIMUS Z890 HERO.

After installing the latest available BIOS (0902), I'm unable to boot with my Core Ultra 9 285k and my four Corsair 32GB DDR5-6400 RAM sticks. I can't even access the BIOS, and I get a Q-Code 55 ('Memory not installed') error.

However, if I use a USB drive to flashback the BIOS and reinstall the previous version (0806), I can boot again and access both the BIOS and Windows.

In both cases, I made sure to apply the default BIOS configuration (ensuring that XMP was disabled as well).

After quite a few tests, I ultimately had to limit myself to only 2 of my 4 RAM sticks.

Initially, with all 4 sticks installed in the default configuration (without XMP), I didn’t notice any stability issues during and after installing Windows 11. However, as the days went by, I began to experience more and more BSODs, sometimes even right at Windows startup (whether using BIOS 0503 or 0806). It eventually got to the point where I couldn’t start Windows without encountering a BSOD.

So, I tried testing all possible combinations of 2 sticks to see if one of them might be faulty, but I didn’t notice any stability problems with any pair. However, as soon as I reinstall all 4 sticks together, the crashes return.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, which worsened over time?

Slt à tous,

Même soucis ici avec 4 barrettes en 6400mhz cl30 le pc démarre dans le bios xmp impossible activer en ayant un pc stable

I have the exact issue, slightly different motherboard.

Maximus Extreme z890

4x Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR5-5600 (bought as a kit, 128GB total).

Intel Core 9 285K

So everything works (more or less) with the standard 0503.  Flashed to 0902, because the occasional instability (read, BSOD), figure ok, new CPU, new chipset, Intel has confirmed there's issues, let's update.

I get the exact issue as both people above.  Gets stuck at Q-Code 55, luckily the mobo has a digital display, it's at "Detecting Memory", and it just hangs.  I've had to flashback to 0503, and that works perfectly fine, other than the occasional instability issues as I mentioned.

Can someone at ASUS please answer?  The same exact thing happening on 3 different Z890 motherboards, and the one common thread that I see is all of us are using Corsair memory.  Could that be the issue?

What’s the model number of your RAM? Ie..CMH96GX5M4B5600C40.   Ensure your RAM is Dual Channel and not Quad Channel. Easiest way to check is to search your model of RAM on Newegg.  If your using quad channel RAM on a dual channel DIMM board which the Hero is, that is most likely why your having so many issues.  Hope this helps.

Same problem here 😭

Motherboard: ROG STRIX Z890-F GAMING WIFI
Intel Core 2 Ultra 265K
Micron CP2K32G56C46U5 32GB x 4 = 128GB
0806 BIOS is OK, 0902 BIOS jammed at Orange Q-LED, I can't even enter BIOS 😭

Additional information, I had reset settings to factory default, 0902 still jammed.
CPU and Memory didn't overclocked.

Same problem here

Motherboard: ROG STRIX Z890-E Gaming Wifi
Intel Core Ultra 7 265K
Kingston Fury Beast 128GB 5200 (4x32) KF552C40BBK4-128

Flashing bios to 0902 results in black screen with Q-Code 55 orange led (Memory Not Installed).Doesn't matter if I flash to 0902 with Zip-file, Cap-file within bios with EZ FLash or if I use FlashBack with renamed 0902 bios file to A5567.CAP using BIOSRenamer.

All result in black in screen with the Q-Code 55 orange led.

Only way to fix it is to use FlashBack to flash bios back to 0806, then I get into bios and Windows boots up fine.

I had same problem with same mb. But bios downgrade not fix it my issue.
