Make Future Motherboard Feature Suggestions Here!

xeromist
Moderator
Hi all,

ASUS ROG is requesting our best suggestions for ROG product improvements. As a moderator I won’t have the ability to implement your suggestions but I will be picking some of the best to highlight for the ROG team so they know what matters to us, the community.

Some guidelines for this thread:
1) Keep it positive and constructive. In most of the forum I try to allow you all to express your thoughts freely (within reason). This thread has the express purpose of generating constructive suggestions so I will be moderating this thread and deleting posts that do not contribute to that goal.
2) Keep it concise and on topic. Some minor discussion regarding a specific suggestion is welcome but if you would like to have a longer conversation I ask you start an additional thread and link it in your post here. You can also request a moderator move your posts if you have need.
3) Try for realistic ideas that appeal broadly to gamers. A small improvement on an existing ROG product is much more likely to get chosen than an entirely new product that only matters to a small number of people.
4) Support your favorites! You don’t have to come up with a suggestion to help. If you see something you like, quote it and say so! More support for an idea improves its chances.

EDIT:
I’ve updated the titles for these feedback threads to reflect that this is primarily for *future* products. Sorry for the lack of clarity. While there is a chance some ideas could be implemented via software updates it’s most likely any suggestions would be rolled into new products.
Also, these threads are not for issue reporting and such posts won’t reach the right people. Please post issues in the ROG Care > Hardware & Software Support section. Or contact ASUS support via phone or email for immediate assistance.

Hi, I recently bought PRIME B760-PLUS D4 with Corsair 32GB 3200 MHZ (CMK32GX4M2E3200C16). Although I have had to write the data by hand. Speed, time and voltage, Works well.

If you can add a profile for Corsair 32GB 3200 MHZ (CMK32GX4M2E3200C16) Because I have seen it when configuring it by hand. And it is selling a lot in amazon in combo. And with better compatibility for everyone, better

(Previous photo is from RAM)

Support Microsoft Dynamic lighting already, so I can control the LEDs from Windows without the need to install 3rd party bloatware.

Asrock started supporting it from today.

Suggestion from an owner of Z790 Maximus Eva02, the M.2 slot heatsink at the bottom which covers two M.2 slots -> suggest to change to 2pieces of heatsinks instead of one-single piece, reason being, when i have two M.2 drives, I installed one at the top (below CPU), and another piece at the bottom. Next month when I want to add another M.2 drive, I will need to take off the heatsink which currently covers the M.2 drive at the bottom, a little difficult because the thermal pad is sticking to existing drive already. Have to use some force to move the heatsink to take off. Now that we took it off, the thermal pad of that drive is not that sticky already, stick it back again may impact thermal performance? Maybe it won't affect, but still..the difficult part of taking off since already stick. If the heatsink is a separate piece, then it will be much easier.

I recently replaced my TUF H670-PRO with ROG B650E-E. My first complaint is that both motherboards don't regularly receive driver updates on the website, I have to hunt around for new Realtek audio drivers and firmware updates, since audio is always causing some problems (crackling sounds etc).

With H670 and my Strix board I had some early problems, like my Strix will sometimes start or wake from standby into PCIe 16x 1.1 mode and be stuck there. I am not the only one and there is really no communication if that is something that is being worked on, what is the problem etc.

When it comes to future motherboards - basically no one uses the second PCIe slot, in every PC that is covered by the GPU. The MB should have two PCIe slots, one main one and the second one right at the bottom of the board.

Last suggestion - I've had many Asus boards in the last few decades, can we please returvn to tradition - link.https://dlcdnimgs.asus.com/websites/global/products/mUly6BERttimMDX5/img/hp/pcdiy/qdesign-pic-3.jpg

The main layout of the ProArt Z690-CREATOR WIFI is a good base

PCI-e 16x slots to run at 1 by16x or 8x by 8x with the extra slot at the bottom
Dual NIC
many SATA ports
ATX is a must!

The display panel effect of the z790 hero  keeps changing between the special effect chosen and a default one, that you can't control. The default effect is on at least half the time and colors can't be changed, is multicolored with letters ROG. Can this be requested to the Armory Crate ASUS software team as there is no way to contact them:

  • Have the default effect which is the >multicolor cycle< with letters ROG changeable/switched off, and if it's the Aura sync thing, then separately configure the mb display from fans.
  • Have the selected special effect/polymo effect (such as rain or light drizzle) run up to 100% of the time, ie optionally permanent on the special effect selected (currently it's on only half the time max). The multicolored part that shows "ROG with the eye" is wrong because its disruptive to the color theme and should not play consecutively with the light drizzle/rain half.
  • Allow the default (multicolored effect) and selected special effect (light drizzle/rain) color ranges to be adjustable. (not essential)

Apart from separating the rain/light drizzle effects away from the default effect on the   z790 Hero LCD screen  (they are merged with the default effect for 50% of the time, but it's too disruptive this way imho), and being able to colour them a bit more easily, there is this issue:

  • The   Ryujin 2 240  image upload layout doesn't show how much memory space each picture is taking up (this is important for gifs mostly), or showing the remaining memory size after #some are present.
  • It needs a blank screen choice at least for the Custom Banner message option (the graphics are intrusive).

The Aura Creator has something wrong with it:

  1. It can't create the effects that are already listed like drizzle or rain to the same standard. I found it very difficult.
  2. The Aura Creator only seems to apply to the overall system, including fans. So you couldn't even apply it discretely to the display panel by itself.

This is why the OP suggestion is necessary.

My most desired features:

Have at least 6 SATA ports

Reason is:
Nowadays, most ASUS motherboards have at most 4 SATA ports.
Though we still have many SATA drives left from recent years.

Allow to enable/disable NVMe drives

Reason is:
With SATA it was easy to enable/disable ports.
The same historic functionality is requested with NVMe drives.
Note:
It has already been asked by user @JohnAb at ‎07-23-2022 11:49 AM (page #2 of this thread), link:

Make DDR5 boards with only two sockets

Reason is:
DDR5 allows an increased RAM sizes which DDR4 doesn't allow.
Lowering the DDR socket to 2 instead of 4 has two advantages:
1. Better electrical topology which improves signal quality and therefore RAM speeds.
2. Less mistakes during builds.

Don't compromise feature/performance just for the looks! (C'mon! It's embarrassing)

USB ports with protection against badUSB

Reason is:
badUSB is a threat and should be mitigated by Motherboard manufacturer.
Also allow to choose which USB port has its protection enabled.

Stop with RGB madness

Reason is:
RGB is for children, most average adults don't want to pay premium price on RGB, but many products include RGB and there are barely any alternatives.
The focus on RGB is adversely affecting the entire industry.

Disable by default any extra software, like Armory Crate

For security reasons.

Better support for DDR5

Unfortunately, seems like my DDR5 isn't supported well.

Make the build easier

Create a new standard to allow for easier connections and an easier build overall.
For example, the connectors on the top of the motherboard (like EPS CPU power connectors) are difficult to handle once motherboard is installed to the case.
Similarly with the motherboard screws on the top of the motherboard.

Sounds like having more SATA connectors is on top of your wish list. Just a suggestion: as most boards have Wi-Fi on m.2 card, that can be substituted for 2 extra SATA ports by Wifi m.2 to SATA adapter

you may have better luck for your suggestions in Asus main page, I think it's unlikely to see asus ROG be able to make a Zxxx pro csm variant. i would certainly be amazed if they did though! I love the Pro CSM models but their chipsets are a little budget imho.
