Who can tell me what the BIOS settings on the motherboard should be so that the drive in the case is detected on fast connectors?
Enclosure Icy Box IB-1919M-C42
The manufacturer writes:
Connect to PC via USB4® Type-C®: Includes two cables—one for PC connection
and one for power—providing convenience and versatility for your setup.
With the included Icy-Box cable:
• USB3.1 i USB-C 10G/s works properly.
• USB-C 20GB/s M2 drive is receiving power but is not detected.
• Thunderbold-5 40GB/s - The M2 drive also receives power but is not detected.
I also tried replacing the original Icy-Box USB cable with the best one I know, the OWC ThunderBold-5 cable, and the situation is identical.
Thunderbolt-5-usb-c-cables
Producer writes:
100% USB-C Compatible: Connect to Macs, PCs, iPads, Chromebooks, Surface, and other devices with a Thunderbolt 5, Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4, or USB-C port.
Image:
The settings on your motherboard are currently default.
The Asus Arion enclosure with a Samsung 970 pro drive behaves the same.
The 20G and Thunderbolt-5 connectors detect other devices like the Asus Spotlight, Corsair LED lighting, keyboard, or mouse.
Additional motherboard power for PCIe-PD is provided.
This means that the motherboard is functional.
I have already weakened.
I have no more ideas, please give me some suggestions.

One month later, a few Windows updates later, two more BIOS updates later and everything works fine on this board. All 20GB/s and 40GB/s USB outputs work fine at full speed. It fixed itself. He, he

This may not be your situation, but I have a external DVD drive that requires both cables, one for power and the other for the operation. The type of USB required for each one may be specific.
I also have an external M.2 drive, not 40 Gbps, that only uses one.
I have not looked at those settings before, but I will do that later today.

There is a place to turn on that USB4 card, if that is what you are using.

In my case, I migrated from the Asus Rampage VI Encore motherboard -> Asus Maximus Z890 Extreme/G.Skill 6400x96(2x48)GB/Ultra9-285K. Almost 3 months have passed since the purchase and only now can I say that it was money well spent. In December it looked like a total failure.

Glad you got it worked out. 🙂

Interesting. I've only confirmed the bandwidth was good on the ports. Didn't think about also looking at the power limits.
