Asus Z890 Extreme and Corsair Memory (not QVL)

Hello.

I have a huge problem with starting the computer with memory (2x24GB CUDIMM 8000Mhz Cl38). The first set worked until I installed the water block on the CPU. At the moment it does not start with two inserted modules. I bought the second set yesterday, thinking that one module was damaged. Today I received the shipment and I have the same symptom. After inserting two modules, the board starts to detect the memory and stops with code 55 (memory detection). The computer only works with one module in socket A1 and A2. (all modules from both sets). The remaining two slots (B1, B2 - memory detect and stop. Now I do not know what to do about it. Is it the fault of the BIOS (I have the last 1302), or is something wrong with the motherboard? I sent a message to Asus and the store. I don't know what they will reply.

Hello marko22

This could be an indication that the water block is mounted unevenly or too tight.

Try remounting the water block, go diagonally with each screw a little at a time keeping even pressure until the screws are snug.

The EK Torque screwdriver works well for this.

@Nate152 ..... You've won a ticket to a weekend stay at the White House.😀 Man....I would never have thought that pressing the block would cause a problem with reading the memory. First I unscrewed it gently....nothing. I removed it completely, loosened the back plate, put the block back on....nothing. Finally I removed it completely and started it without the block. IT WORKS. Oh...so the block bolts are screwed in too tight. I don't have a torque wrench. On the Z490 extreme everything worked beautifully without a wrench 😉 Thank you very much. You saved me a lot of time regarding the probable RMA shipping. I wish you all the best and a nice weekend.

It is probably unrelated, but I had a similar experience with my Z890 Apex. After installing a waterblock, the board would not go beyond code 55 anymore. The CUDIMN memory had worked perfectly before I had installed the waterblock. How could that be possible? Incidentally, I found out, that by losing the fasterner for the block  just a very little, the memory was again properly recognized. I can repeat it. Fastening the screws very tight is resulting in stopping at code 55. I assume strong pressure on the PCB in the CPU socket area is somehow impacting connecting lines between CPU and memory. Again, maybe totally unrelated to your problem
