Z790 ROG Maximus Hero Code 55

Hi All,

I am on all the latest BIOS 1501 and drivers possible but still getting CODE 55

I have resitted the RAM and done memory test.

Memory test doing individual sticks with XMP on and XMP off the test showed passed.

When running individual sticks with XMP on same issue occurs over time.

When running individual sticks with XMP off no issues.

When running both sticks with XMP on in XMP II and XMP Tweaked or XMP I. Normally after 2 days some times 4 days of running without shutdown. I will reboot machine and will get code 55

Here are my specs

CPU: Intel Core i9-12900K 3.2 GHz 16-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE H170i ELITE LCD XT 89 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO ATX LGA1700 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6400 CL36 -CMH32GX5M2B6400C36

Memory Storage: Western Digital SN530 1.024 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive Video Card: Zotac GAMING Twin Edge GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB Video Card Case: Corsair iCUE 7000X RGB ATX Full Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair HX1500i (2022) 1500 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

At this point I am out of ideas other then to set custom timing and configuration for the RAM. Which technically would not think I would have to do that at all. Due to the QVL chart on the support page says this RAM should work.

I am really thinking only solution would be to buy a replacement board. Which I have a gut feeling if I do buy one and it faces the same thing then I will have two boards that are useless to me.

Would really like to understand if it is a RAM related issue or a Motherboard issue.

Due to the cost of the motherboard brand new have a ticket opened with Corsair and Asus. Corsair has been really responsive but haven't heard anything from Asus. Each time I called and chatted with support I was told that they would email me.

Any idea my other options or suggestions on fixes?

Is anyone have the same configuration facing same issues?

i mean, do your problem have same symptoms? your corsair ram have rgb light?

in my case code 55 when restart happend if ram light stop sync. it the symptoms.

do you try new bios 1501 yet? i use this bios and smart aura effect about two days and the problem not yet appear. hope this bios or new armoury crate version fix this

I have G-Skill RAM that is on the QVL list and is approved and running 1501 as well. I still have the issue but only specific to RAM RGB. It works fine with I de-select the RAM in Armoury Crate. So that's where I am currently... Just run the RGB for RAM through the G-Skill software and everything else through Armoury Crate and no issues at all for two days. For me specifically, it's 100% RGB related to RAM in the aura software of Armoury Crate.

Last night I noticed ICUE completely dropped Lighting effects from working for my RAM sticks when it was marked for Lighting effect. I was able to get lighting effects if I did hardware lighting selection only. So I completely uninstalled ICUE deleting all record of ICUE and reinstalled it. I noticed that previous install was downloading the wrong RAM type and had two types. After the fresh install it shows only one RAM version.

Going give my setup the normal 4 day of uptime to test if XMP and Ram is able to stay stable.

i agree with you, this is about armoury crate software. got ram light stop sync today, i check armoury crate and try checking update. and got asus hal center update and graphic card identifier, when i update voila, ram sync work again.

but getting here issue seems gone. not like 2 month ago, every turn on pc ram rgb keep getting stuck every pc on

Interesting enough I had those updates also and a few others in Armoury create. Also interesting enough I encounter this issue with ICUE and Armoury crate software installed and or not installed. It really has been the oddest issues in my career with computers.

I am on 1501 right now and did do the latest Armoury crate updates. Still testing as it normally will occur after 4 days of constant running. Still testing phase right now. Yes my Corsair Ram have RGB Light.  At this current moment I only have uptime of 8 hours I will need 4 days of uptime to confirm or deny anything.

Today I rebooted my machine and found that I got CODE  55 at start up. I am already on the latest drivers and bios possible. I have also reached out to Corsair again to inform them of the same issues. Before I rebooted I noticed ICUE showed a RED triangle  over the ram picture.image.png

I also found that ICUE had installed the below ram highlighted in green firmware which isn't on my machine.  Icue installed both VENGEANCE RGB PRO SL and VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 firmware. But I only run VENGEANCE RGB DDR5.

When machine rebooted and attempted to post I got a CODE 55 and again had to go into BIOS to check and ensure XMP was enabled and then save and reset. For the machine to boot up successfully with XMP enabled.

NOTE: When XMP is Disabled I have zero issues.

In hopes that Corsiar or ASUS is able to provide some help or insight to the issue.

Hi,

If this does not happen when XMP is disabled you really need to evaluate your overclock. Remember, XMP is overclocking. I asked you previously how you were evaluating memory stability but can't see if or where you've responded to this. I would recommend downloading Karhu RAM Test or using TM5. If the system is unstable it can cause issues with Aura Sync or iCUE quite easily.

That isn't to say there may not be an issue elsewhere, but in your case it would indicate that instability is the culprit.

I only encounter the issue with XMP is enabled. never seen the issue occur when XMP was disabled. Also I face this issue with ICUE and Armory Crate on the system and when it is off the system. I have done as you have suggested and ran test but no errors found. I have run all possible software against my CPU and GPU and RAM but no errors ever found.

UPDATE: I have alerted Corsiar of the issues also again. They have provided some tools to capture logs from a ICUE standpoint and RAM. Also a way to share the system logs and more.I have turned DEBUGGING logging on ICUE also to attempt to capture the alerts from ICUE and the RAM itself. Hopefully Corsiar and Asus can work together for solution for its customers.  More updates as they come available.
