Z790 ROG 1801 BIOS

Hey guys,

I have on my Z790-E ROG STRIX mobo 1303 BIOS.

I am thinking to update BIOS to new 1801 version. I have 2 questions:

Will work my 1303 .CMO settings file on new 1801 version? I really dont wanna enter hundred of parameters again manually.

Is 1801 good BIOS to update? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

The feature works just fine if you’re capable of sticking within its limitations, your comprehension seems to be the issue or reluctance to accept how things are.

The change logs aren’t going to tell you anything. It depends what the vendor has needed to do or change (voltage rules, timing offsets etc) in respect to subsequent updates when the firmware is updated. If certain things change, you may need to start over.

Perhaps you can do the same when you’ve come to terms with this, regardless of your board of choice.

It doesn't make much sense not to update! This new 1801 update works very well and is perfectly stable.

As already mentioned, whatever bios update you make, you will never be able to restore old CMO saves.

CMO saves are only useful if I'm constantly tinkering with overclocking, but if you upgrade you'll always have to reset everything and put it manually.

I am not sure why, but sometimes when I enter the BIOS menu, transitions and cursor movements become stuttery and laggy. Everything default re-flashed BIOS 2 times something is wrong with 1801. It does not happen always.

Are you using a USB hub?

I am using an external WD Elements HDD. No USB hubs. Do you think it is related to the USB hub?

What peripherals are connected? Does it happen at Optimised Defaults or with the WD drive disconnected?

Looks like it was the Apple MagSafe charger caused the occasional BIOS slowness.

Guys you can save your BIOS settings to a TXT file aswell in the same place you made the CMO file. Edit out all the unnecessary stuff from it in Notepad, and save to rest. You can then e-mail the text to your self and use your smartphone to read the settings next time you update the BIOS.

This has already been suggested in another thread. For some reason he's fixated on being able to cross purpose CMOs.

Has anyone installed 1801 on a ProArt Z790 Creator WiFi motherboard? I'm currently running bios 1303 with a 13900K and system is 100% stable.

Any feedback or comments appreciated.
