Hi,
When will the new microcode bios fix be available for z790 motherboards for 13/14th gen? as per intel it was supposed to be out by the 10th right?

According to Intel, the microcode fixes a "bug" in the ucode for ETVB that would result in the CPU maintaining higher frequency under high current/temperature conditions.

Tried updating from 2202 to the new one, 2402. What I got was an extremely unstable PC (even with the most restrictive intel profile and no XMP). Had to revert back again to 2202 and had to reinstall Windows as the BSODs corrupted the system. Good job over there to be honest, I'm soooo tired of the 13900k situation.

yeah this i what I'm scared of. did you have it overclocked or no ? i have a 13700k so idk if i should leave well enough alone or download it to be safe. this is one crazy gen, i just built this and im getting 81c underloads with a 360 aio on the intel default profile 😥

No, didn't have it overclocked at all. Still, if you feel brave, give it a try, maybe it works fine. The problem of the 13900k is that it's extremely unstable, the 13700k from what I've heard is not as bad.

Even I am holding off on the update since I am seeing mixed results from people.

I have the ROG Strix Z790-E WiFi II motherboard and I am super scared to update the BIOS.
After reading several comments on issues after BIOS upgrade I am very careful on updating it.
I have currently BIOS v1202, I completely skipped BIOS v1301 and now I think I skip BIOS v1402 as well.
I completely regret to have bought such an expensive machine with Intel Core i9-14900KF.
The alternative AMD version (top of the line) was less expensive and I made a very big mistake....

No issues for me with 2402 so far on STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI.

@NYC_Fanboy after updating to the latest bios, what settings are you using? have u set max values for PL and ICC

I use the "Intel Extreme Profile" but with MCE enabled, ICC=400, PL1/2=320 and eTVB optimizations off.
Runs fine so far, way fewer crashes than before.
Intel Support offered to replace my unit but I test a bit more before starting the replacement procedure.

What CPU do you have?
