I've got a Z790 that resets boot order every single boot.
I want to boot from PCIE not m.2.
I expressly disable booting from m.2, and it does it again!
I'm on the latest bios. (4/17/2024 - 2202)

If you are on BIOS defaults anyway, it's possible that the motherboard battery has expired and you haven't realised. Cheap to replace, probably worth a try...

Wouldn't it lose other settings as Walton not just the boot order? In any case I'll give it a shot but I'd be surprised if it works. Also that would probably require it to be turned off from the PSU or unplugged to lose settings.

It would, that's why I said "if you're on default settings". So probably not the battery then, but it seemed like a possibility when I thought of it. I've never booted from a PCIe device, so have no direct experience why that might be happening, sorry.

Tried replacing the battery, still doesn't help. 😕
