Z790 Hero and new G.skill 48GB 8000 fail to work

Yesterday, I went to Microcenter and grab the new G.SKill F5-8000J4048F24GX2-TZ5RK.   8000MHz 24x2 dimm.

I thought it was an easy swap.  But it turn into 2 hours of diagnosis nightmare.  I have bios 1202 with newest ME firmware.

The system would sometime get QCode 54, sometimes 55.  Sometime keep looping.sometimes stuck to code 60.  Once, i got it to windows boot screen.. and crash.. and after that.. my windows is corrupted.  i tried mode 1, mode 2...nothing seems to help.   So i end up putting back my g.skill 7200mhz modules.. and system works perfectly again...

Anyone has s success getting 24gb module to work?  or those with high 8000 frequency?

Hello,

Have you checked the QVL to see if that kit is on the Hero? I don't believe the Hero is validated for 8000MHz, these speeds require a reasonable IMC and a 1 DIMM per channel board such as the Apex. That isn't to say it's not possible, but the margins are quite tight. May want to dial back the frequency one or two bins and tune from there.
