Newegg listing November 2nd and 3rd:

96062

Newegg listing November 4th, today:

96063

Did Newegg sell out their known incoming quantity of boards as Pre-Orders in 48hours? OR did they simply change the purchasing status?

Who knows right?

Did anyone grab a pre-order?

Think I'm just gonna shut up until my Apex gets here, probably the best strategy. 😞

Not really anything I can add with confidence, but being optimistic, a revised BIOS may well sort out issues like this. I've just trawled through the 690/BIOS 2004 thread and some people were reporting issues with XMP not working after the update. After the release of BIOS 2103, reports of issues like that reduced dramatically.

So, I mention this to demonstrate the point that the BIOS version can influence memory performance. I would have guessed as much, I just wanted to find some evidence. As the 790 platform gets a bit more mature, I would hope that further BIOS updates will be able to optimise memory speed and performance.
Z690 Hero, 12900K, BIOS 4301, MEI 2512.7.3.0, ME Firmware 16.1.35.2557, 7000X Case, RM1000x PSU, ASUS TUF OC 3090TI, 2 x 16GB Corsair RAM @ 5200MHz, Windows 11 Pro 23H2, Corsair H150i Elite AIO, 4x Corsair RGB fans, 3x M.2 NVME drives, 2x SATA SSDs, 2x SATA HDs.

oh man you guys have me worried. i get binning a motherboard to get the most memory performance ! But binning motherboards just to get a working system? at this price point!!!

wasnt this supposed to be Asus' attempt to claw back some reputation or make it up to us from the z690 woes? first I figured they would lower the price (so did youtube spokesperson jj) but we were wrong. Then i viewed the price as "confidence" and ordered one. NOW I"M WORRIED

Quality is a mess now, I think Asus doesn't care about oir there are no ppl doing this there
The bending is quite serious now, here some examples from OCN

some can run them w/o problems until a certain frequency or at all not even booting if both slots are populated, but even the ram is working (eventually), the VGA can sit like this =))

indeed I think as well that these are made on a ship on knees, no need for factories anymore, can be manufactured while shipping =))

seriously now, I am quite not sure what motherboard to purchase...
I was using ROG bios since... Z87 I think :))

Perhaps after you buy a few more Asus Z790 motherboards your wallet will be lighter and the Z790 Apex board will level out a bit. 😛
