Newegg listing November 2nd and 3rd:

Newegg listing November 4th, today:

96063

Did Newegg sell out their known incoming quantity of boards as Pre-Orders in 48hours? OR did they simply change the purchasing status?

Who knows right?

Did anyone grab a pre-order?

Also, maybe Silent Scone can answer this noob question of mine.

I've been using XMP l memory profile exclusively with Z790. Noticed others using XMP Tweaked.

Is one profile setting more advantageous for memory stability?

XMP Tweaked was added a few months ago, depending on the memory IC used it can help with stability (much in the way Memtweak Modes can)

If Sir Braegnok is getting 8400 stable with his 7200 2x16 kit, can't wait to see what he can do with the 8200 2x24 kit.

------

Got some really good DDR5 cooling going on with this $20 Noctua 80mm x 25mm fan - 1.56v VDD/VDDQ for 8200 34CL and both mem modules 33C - 34C all day long.

Velcro mounted to the test bench.

So I've been thinking. With your flashy Apex boards and super speed memory, it seems that my system is a poor second place. Feeling a bit sad, I had some inspiration. Look at the image. My BIOS version is bigger than yours 🤣🤣😃 Beat that!

🤣🤣🤣

You Win John! 😁

But ya know if you grabbed that updated Apex board rumored to be launching for RLR in August/September, you'd have a sweeter board than all of us. lol 🤣

Sell your Z690 Hero for 300-400gbp 🙂 You already have a compatible CPU and ddr5 kit. 👍

Haha, that's true. I used to play 'top trumps' with a chap at work. We both got new cars at a similar time, so it was like "my wheelbase is 80mm longer than yours" and then "yeah, but my fuel injection system runs at 25psi more than yours. "My rear tyres are 5mm wider" followed by "so what, my rear tyres run at 2psi higher pressure".... and so we went on for weeks lol. It was fun. We had pages of tech specs ready to compare.

Don't think I want the updated Apex, even if it launches. It would be very nice for sure, but I want a really BIG jump up. It's more exciting to wait I think 😁

Well I say that now, but who knows what I'll think in a few months time 😎

There's no wrong decision John, you already have a very fast system. Just thought if you grabbed an Apex Supreme (or whatever ROG calls it) in August you might be happier until Z990 two years from now, two years is a long time.

I didn't own Alder Lake but Raptor seems like a very big improvement for only a single generation.

I guessed in this thread Raptor Lake Refresh nomenclature might be 13990K, 13790K, and 13690K, and 13990KS. Looks like Wendell of Level 1 Tech agrees with me. 😃
