Alphacool will most likely offer a gen 5 riser card with same water block solution over the next few weeks, no modification of the ROG riser needed, just sayin'. You may want to wait for that gen 5 water solution from Alphacool and keep your ROG gen 5 riser card intact. There's going to be so many gen 5 riser cards passive and active air - active water launching for the gen 5 drives along with the flat heatsinks for direct mobo mounting.

Those tiny heatsinks sitting on top and no larger than the the M.2 drives, with such small mass and surface area with or without tiny noisy fan - that's the group you will most likely see the outrageously high thermals.

Although I really wanted the Z.2 riser card like on your AMD ROG Gene board, the Z790 Apex gen 5 riser seems most adequate passive or active (with an 80mm Noctua fan nearby), I think ROG did a very good job with the gen 5 card, we'll find out and I'll report my thermals right here. 🙂

A bunch of system information just popped up at the upper right corner of Windows GPU util clk pwr temp fan vram util vram clk ram util cpu util. What keys did I hit by mistake to make that happen - anybody know?

It's kinda cool information, would like to customize it. :cool:

Amazing how things change - water cooling of storage drives? Wow. I can't imagine anybody, even 5 years ago, would have predicted that would ever be necessary. Exciting times ahead - keep us informed please Braegnok.

The Inland TTD510 drive temps in the Gen-Z.2 card are fine even under sustained load, I have ran several drive benchmarks, temps are not an issue.

No need for active cooling on X670E Gen-Z.2 riser card.

That's impressive, I assumed it would run much hotter. Plus, you're getting the advertised speeds. Nice bit of kit 🙂

after some up time, gaming and browsing with alt+tab the 4K reading remains steady... compared to 980Pro, 990Pro is better with cache saturation than I expected...

Hey guys.

Until recently I found out that my front USB 3.0 dont work, but Iam sure they worked before with this mobo, I was getting sick of this and moved to other USB 3.0 connector on the board. Still doesnt work.... Neither in bios all USB ports enabled ofc, cleared CMOS nothing.

Is there any fix or I have a bad motherboard?

I had the same problem with a hero board, sento to rma and it was faulty (also i had connected a corsair hub that disconnected randomly my usbs).

I drew a lot as well, bought a 13900KS because I was pretty bored I think.

The best superPi time for 1M I could get is 5.234s, 6.2GHz & 7600MHz, better than any 6.2GHz & 8000MHz+

no chance for 8600C34, not even C36, after a few hours I lost my patience (I'm surprised that I wanted something like that), 8534C34 is the most I can squeeze out of this KS (but most likely the fault is the crappy Asus board :P)

Hi. I'm not talking about low BW devices.

 

Of course you can connect a controller pad and a mouse. Like on every Bluetooth since 2.0.

 

Problem are high BW devices like dualsense or other controllers.

Or a dualsense and a BT headset.

 

When you try that, Intel will fail in every aspect as cant keep the BW of those devices.

 

This is totally unacceptable for BT 5.0.

Even my BT 4.0 dongles can handle that. And Intel can't.
