Newegg listing November 4th, today:

Did Newegg sell out their known incoming quantity of boards as Pre-Orders in 48hours? OR did they simply change the purchasing status?

Who knows right?

Did anyone grab a pre-order?

Had to upgrade from 1.25in sorbo hemispheres to 1.5in durometer 30 to isolate the Aquacomputer D5 PWM water pump to inaudible, so now the D5 subassembly sits a bit higher and the tubing runs in and out are no longer parallel still awesome cooling for a CPU only custom short loop. 😛

Along with the Nvidia RTX A2000 12GB workstation card fan isolation, this work rig is SO READY for the Z790 Apex and DDR5 7600 and gen 5 M.2 SSD!

Notice the 1.0mm air gap between the Noctua 140mm Industrial fans and the Phobya 10mm thick rad gasket? It's caused by the thickness of the Noctua noise absorption corner pads.

96232

So Noctua just released their very own fan/rad gaskets in brown and black 120mm and 140mm. The deal is (3) 140mm gaskets for $9USD from Amazon. Only need (2) in black to close that air gap permanently, ordered - be here tomorrow.

Plan on cutting away the area outlined in red (3rd image below) since I'm using a 280mm radiator. Too bad Noctua didn't release 240mm 280mm 420mm rad gaskets so you don't have to cut out the center, but oh well this will work just fine. Plan on keeping the Phobya 10mm rad gasket in place, that very thick gasket absorbs the majority of the rotational noise energy from the fans so they run way up at 960rpms inaudible.

those gaskets are crap, especially the black ones, once you tight the screws on the radiator they won't stay straight
I have the NF 12x25A black (previously the brown ones), and these gaskets are received by default with these ones

the original brown ones had definitely better quality
even these are "arranged" to look straight somehow some in some areas the gap will be still visible 🙂
I think the thick ones you have now will do just fine 🙂

The thick ones, the Alphacool Phobya 10mm gaskets aren't going anywhere. lol They're the BEST rad gaskets I've ever used, but since they are so darn thick, you cannot use the 28mm screws that arrive with the Hardware Labs radiators - I had to move to 40mm screws a pack of 10 and a pack of 10 35mm were about $8USD shipped from Monsterbolt.com, didn't know which length would work at time of ordering.

25mm Noctua fan + 10mm Phobya gasket + 3mm Sorbothane washer + 2mm (2)Noctua corner pads = 40mm length screws 🙂

The plan is to use the Noctua rad gaskets "on top" of the Phobya - double rad gaskets, lol. The Noctuas arrive tomorrow. Also got a text from FedEx, the blank HHKB keyboard will also be here tomorrow, have to sign for it. 😛

I ordered the IHS frame today just to be on the safe side 😛

https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B0B64Y5ZXL?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image
As noticed from 12th, if a new processor is mounted in the socket its IHS will curve anyways, so mounting the frame after won't make most of the times any difference

Apex Z790 will arrive in Germany this Friday but I'm kinda reluctant to order again an Asus product from abroad, due to their "local" warranty policy...
Even if the board is bought online within the so-called Mickey Mouse EU territory when it comes to warranty Asus Germany cannot pick up the board from a different country and the local Asus cannot pick up the board because its S/N is assigned to another country. That's cute =))

If the Apex will be crap again, we'll make sure that lots won't buy this brand again...
6200 surprisingly working fine, 6400 no go on a Hero, but it's a... Hero though, no high expectations here... sending regards to Asus :))
