Z690 Strix-E odd startup behavior after ME and Bios update.

I'm having an issue where after installing the current Intel ME firmware and BIOS updating. Every time I boot up from shutdown I am taken into UEFI. I have to exit the UEFI settings multiple times to load into Windows. I'm sure I'm just missing some flag or setting. Any idea how to prevent this behavior? This does not happen during reboots.

Did you reset bios to defaults after updating it? If not, give that a try.

Thanks for the response! I just tried and it still happens after startup from a shutdown. I also tried a clear CMOS to no avail. Could the Intel ME install from the thread here cause this? Is it possible to downgrade this?

Sorry that didn't help -- when I've seen that problem before, a reset-bios-to-defaults always fixed it. 😞

Can't answer on the ME install... You might try to get Mokichu's attention in that thread, the guy is a genius on drivers and firmware! 🙂

In Windows Power Options make sure fast start up is disabled.

Control Panel/Power Options/Choose what the power buttons do/Uncheck 'Turn on fast startup'

See if that works.

I disabled fast boot in Windows and Bios to no avail. Think I may just try reflashing bios and ME.

I know bit left field, but have you tired to replace your system battery? seems like it is just not keeping your changes like a dead or weak battery
