Z690 hero Ploymo lighting issue

Hi Guys,

My ploymo lighting doesn't work properly on some of the colors. There is another color line at the bottom. It can be seen in the light colors. But it doesn't show itself in the deep color. It was working when I bought this motherboard. I am not sure if it is a software issue or the bios issue. I have updated the armory crate and the bios to the latest version. Is this a hardware issue? There is no issue on red, green, dark blue and purple.

Not sure if I'm seeing the fault (although I believe you). The Polymo display is quite limited in what it can do anyway, but it seems most likely to me (and I'm guessing here) is that an LED, or several, have failed. So personally I'd put my money on a hardware issue. My Polymo display still seems to be working fine (at least like it always did). What BIOS are you on? I'm still on 1601. I guess you have also found the Polymo lighting settings in Armoury Crate under 'devices'?

My Bios is 1720. I can find the Polyymo settings under device, motherboard. Because we are under different bios. I am not sure if it is a bios issue. The color line looks like a deeper color than the static color. If the static color is yellow, it will show orange. If the static color is light blue, it will show deep blue. It only happens when showing rog picture logo. Everything is working when showing ROG letter.

Well, I was thinking that a recent BIOS (like 1720) could have introduced a problem. I don't think it is likely, but you never know. If you do go back to the previous BIOS, please let us know if it makes any difference. Thanks and good luck.

By the way, I don't know if the display uses multicolour LEDs, or sets of single colour LEDs. If it's not the BIOS, which has changed recently, then I still suspect that some of your LEDs have partially or totally stopped working.

Personally, I wouldn't worry too much myself, but it's annoying when something doesn't work correctly. Perhaps somebody else here will have a better suggestion, but perhaps you might need to get the motherboard replaced if it bothers you.

I have rolled back the bios but the issue still exists. Can you confirm if your Armoury Crate version is 5.2.12.0? Thanks.

Yes it is 5.2.12.0 - same as yours. I guess that rules out some sort of software issue then. I think that points to hardware then unfortunately...

One last suggestion, have you tried completely shutting down the system and removing power completely for a few minutes? I'm not sure it will help, but there is a small chance that the Polymo controller for the LEDs might have got itself into some sort of error state. At least t's something to try for free and it's easy. Good luck.

If you have the same software version, I think mine has a hardware issue. I will contact Asus for rma. Thanks.

Yeah, I think so too. Hope you get it sorted ASAP.
