Z690 Formula PCH hitting 90-92C should I worry?

I was just wondering if I could be concerned about such a high PCH temp. PCH will stay around 75-78 while doing lite things but reach 90-92C while gaming. I have good airflow 011 XL with 6 fans in 3 out. It probably doesn't help that I have M2_2 and M2_3 occupied plus my Strix 3080 sits right on top of it.

Just for info I have a 690 Maximus Hero and HWInfo is reporting the PCH voltage correctly (0.92V in my case) as I selected the midpoint voltage and have had no issues at all. Others have set the PCH voltages to minimum values, apparently also without any problems. Bringing down my PCH voltages only reduced my PCH temps by maybe 2C on my motherboard. Not a huge decrease, but then my PCH normally runs at about 60C depending on how warm the weather is.

Hello

Whats the default voltage for the z690 pch ?
*On the tweakers paradise its says 1050mv and 0.820mv

Its on auto, but lowering slighty this values the temps come down from 82 to 60 c, but the voltage in hwinfo is 1.400mv for the pch, but what voltage do you guys see in hwinfo*
Z690 Hero, 12900K, BIOS 4001, MEI 2433.6.3.0, ME Firmware 16.1.32.2473, 7000X Case, RM1000x PSU, ASUS TUF OC 3090TI, 2 x 16GB Corsair RAM @ 5200MHz, Windows 11 Pro 23H2, Corsair H150i Elite AIO, 4x Corsair RGB fans, 3x M.2 NVME drives, 2x SATA SSDs, 2x SATA HDs.

Currently temperature of 25°C in the room where my PC is, here are my temperatures in idle.

This PCH is really badly cooled, Asus could have provided better cooling, of the active type.

Regardless of load or idle mine hovers around 70-80C with the board fully loaded up all m.2 populated 2x gpu's. Z690 Maximus Extreme. Depending on the ambient temp. Currently around 80 with a 28-29C ambient.

You can reduce the PCH temps by swapping the thermal pad with something like a Gelid Ultimate pad. Unfortunately I don't know the proper thickness, but it's more than 2mm. Might require you to stack existing pads. You can take a caliper and measure the original thermal pad thickness and then go from there.

Taking the heat shield apart is easy, but time consuming and requires you to be VERY careful. You just have to remove a bunch of screws on the underside. But there are also LED and other power cables that are attached and routed on the backplate, so you have to go very slowly and make sure you don't damage a cable where it attaches to the motherboard. So you need to have the entire board removed out of the case and work slowly.

After upgrading to the new BIOS 2004 for my Z690E-Gaming WIFI, the PCH temps went from 55 degree C during idle to 64 degree C when idle. Is this normal? Anyone encountered higher PCH temps after upgrading to the new BIOS 2004?

Was just looking for info on this and then saw your comment, I have just updated to 2004 on my ROG Strix Z690-F and the PCH temps have jumped a whole 10-12c with the same settings.

Hope the next BIOS revision will bring down the PCH temperature.
