Recent problem
I have Windows 11 desktop PC uses Z690-F rev 1.xx
Bios ver 1720 date 8/15/2022
Starting from a cold boot, it recently started to boot extremely slow - takes almost 5 minutes to get to screen showing the ROG logo and "press F2 or del to get to bios, and to 12+ minutes to get to the windows login prompt. I've run multiple antivirus scans ( AVG antivirus) and malware ( Malwarebytes) - no problems seen there.
Any suggestions ???
Thanks !

I'd also suggest checking your OS drive for any files system errors. But like Wesley says, 1720 is a very old BIOS and a lot of people reported problems at the time, so I never installed it. Remember that once you go past 2305, there is no easy way back, but plenty of more recent stable BIOS versions to choose from.

I called Asus tech support - they said to first try clearing the CMOS, and then update the Bios.
I cleared the CMOS and that cured the problem !!! ( what is in CMOS memory that could have caused the long time to boot ???)
I then updated the bios to the latest version available on the website. Update went smooth, no problems.
Thaks to everyone for the suggestions and help.

OK, re-opening this problem. Here I am on Friday 6 days after I thouight the problem was solved - and it's back again......excessive long boot times. Tried resetting the CMOS - did not help or reduce the bootup time. The BIOS was updated , no change in that.
What's going on here ????
Anyone have thoughts on this ?

Thoughts. Ram speed settings & CSM. Common factors besides hardware (USB) that cause longer boot times.

I had not changed any RAM speed settings, not sure what CSM is...
I unplugged the USB connection to the Iriscan Desk 5 pro scanner......Now the boot to wondows log in went from 5 minutes down to 36 seconds.

Found your issue then. Just gotta leave it unplugged until you need it or change your bios USB settings until it stops slowing down the boot (might be easier to find a needle in a haystack though....)
