Z690-F BIOS Not Saving CPU Fan Setting

Hi everyone,

Has anyone experienced an issue where, every time you turn on your PC, you get a warning to disable the CPU FAN?

Behavior:

  1. I go into BIOS and set CPU FAN to "Ignore".

  2. I save the changes and reboot — all good.

  3. If I restart the PC on the same day, the warning doesn’t show up.

  4. However, if I power on the PC the next day, the warning comes back.

  5. I’ve also tried resetting the CMOS using the button on the back of the board, but the issue persists.

Additional Note:
I suspect the CMOS battery might be the problem. I tried checking it, but it's in a tricky spot and hard to remove.

Specs:

  • CPU: Intel i5-12600K

  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z690-F Gaming WiFi

Is there any permanent fix for this issue? Would replacing the CMOS battery help? Appreciate any advice!

The CMOS battery  would be my suspicion as well. Probably worth replacing it...
