Is anyone tried new 2602 BIOS for Z690?

Any difference compared to 2204, 2305 or 2403?

I have tested two RAM modules from the G.Skill brand on my system. One is the TRIDENT Z model, and the other is RIPJAWS. Both have the same specifications, but the TRIDENT Z module encounters a problem with the XMP II profile. It crashes or gives a blue screen, whether in gaming or normal activities, but this issue doesn't occur with the RIPJAWS RAM!!!

Secondly, I have a video of the system startup showing a 15-second delay before the boot screen appears. How can I send it to you so that you can see it? Is this 15-second delay normal for the ASUS STRIX Z690 A D4 motherboard?

I have Z690-A D4 with 4x16GB 3600 CL16 DDR4. I have disabled fast boot and from the turning ON power till BIOS screen I get around 20 sec. I think your boot time is normal.

First of all, your results are not optimal You are on 4000 MHZ

with high latency.

Your ambition is in gear 2 mode This is as high a frequency as possible.

to compensate .

My recommendation is to lower the frequency on gear 1 mode.

4000 on gear 1 It's really not easy to achieve on the Z690/790 .

It is very hard on the memory controller in the processor.

and requires a high VCCSA voltage.

Be careful.

always set the VCCSA voltage manually .

Once you put an XMP profile The board will apply voltage that can wear out the CPU controller.

Do not exceed the VCCSA voltage Max for 24/7 1.35V.

in brief Check what the highest frequency you can get out of the memories in gear 1 mode With VCCSA safe.

Samsung B-Die Excellent but you need experience to get the best out of them

I have a rog-strix-z690-f-gaming-wifi. 

Updated last night. Instant RAM errors in memtest86 and stress test after updating. Was fine before. 

I have lowered the RAM speed from 5600 to 5200Mhz with XMP on. Currently running another metest 86 to see if 5200Mhz is stable

Bios updated really should not break default XMP profiles...

Also, I am not OC expert so can someone tell if having XMP profile on and then just lowering the RAM speed is fine? I don't know why it wouldn't be.

Both are the same except the CL speed on one is 36 and the other is 40 so I manually set the RAM timings to be 40 40 40 77 so it uses the slower one. Is that fine? I also just found out apparently the ram with RGB is not on the supported ram list for my mobo so that's cool. How much does that really matter since it's been working?

I'm no overclocking expert either, but I think you'll be fine. If you lower the memory speed with XMP on, you might end up with a little more voltage than you need, but it should be stable and do no harm - the XMP profiles don't set crazy voltages anyway. Finally, yes, setting the timings to match the slower RAM modules is also fine. Better memory will always be happy to run at slower timings.  So just find stable settings and once you know those, you can always try and find lower stable voltages if you prefer. No problem not being on the QVL list if it's working 😀

My RAM is only 5200 (XMP on), but I found out the other day that I can also dial in 5400, change nothing else and it seems perfectly stable. I've gone back to 5200 anyway for now. I might try 5600, but that's probably hoping for too much unless I increase the voltages. It's all trial and error really, so once you find stable settings you should be good to go.

Yeah, I thought that voltages would be a bit more than needed but I really don't wanna faff about with those so was hoping just lowering speed alone was okay. Thanks for the speedy response! 😀

Hopefully, a future BIOS update will allow me to go back to 5600 I was on 2204 so a few versions behind. I could always EZ flashback to 2204 but I mean if 5200 works then I guess that will do for now. Will probably barely notice any difference between the speeds since it's not a big difference.

I should also have mentioned that your other option is to dial in the frequency you want and then increase voltages as needed for stability. However, if you are happy with your system speed anyway, then there isn't much to be gained by stressing the RAM unnecessarily. Personally I'm perfectly happy with 5200 and I seem to have no issues regarding system speed or responsiveness, so my preference is to treat all components gently and hope for good longevity via low temperatures etc. Whatever you decide, have fun tinkering. 

If you don't realise it's not possible to go back prior to 2305 as that BIOS is locked (actually there is a way but I wouldn't recommend it), but you will be able to go back to 2305 or 2403. Maybe one of those will give you 5600 'out of the box' anyway.  

My final thought - when you flashed 2602, did you update MEI drivers and ME firmware first? If you didn't, that could explain whey you aren't getting the results you hoped for...
