Z690 Apex w/14900K

My z690 Apex does not like going over 6600mhz on a 6000mhz kit w/my 12900K. What is the likelihood of getting 7200mhz+ stable on a different DDR5 kit if I were to swap the 12900K out with a 14900K? I do not want to purchase a z790 board. The total cost does not justify the means imo.

you may try to tune your voltages and timings per this https://www.overclock.net/threads/official-intel-ddr5-oc-and-24-7-daily-memory-stability-thread.1794...

maybe you reach 6800 or 7000

Z690 + 12xxxK = 6600  maybe 6800

apex z790 + 13900k = 8200

Your bottleneck is the Z690 Apex, not the CPU.  Most of those boards can't overclock over 6400mhz. Get a Z790 Apex.  All can do up to 8000mhz easy; above that it's up to the skill of the user.

12th gen CPUs will likely not achieve these speeds easily even on a newer board, so this advice is a little skewed, although with good intentions.

The Z690 Apex was only ever validated up to 6600 which is what the OP is achieving, beyond maximum validation will vary and be hard to quantify. Normally, the board of choice should be the one the CPU was designed around. Vendors can make various changes to accommodate new SKUs. My recommendation would be to replace both the board and CPU if looking for maximum obtainable frequency.

I'm posting this here hoping an ADMIN replies because if I try to create a new post, all I get is "marked as spam"

This is my question:

According to the Asus specs for both the OG "white" Z790 Apex & the new "black" Z790 Encore it says on the Asus product pages something like this for both motherboards:

Immersive Audio: ROG SupremeFX ALC4080 codec with Savitech SV3H712 amplifier, along with DTS® Sound Unbound and Sonic Studio
...Yet the Realtek Audio Driver V6.3.9600.2368 for Windows 11 64-bit.(WHQL) on the Z790 Encore support page DOES NOT have Sonic Studio included in the driver package. It only has DTS Sound Unbound. I've tried using Mokichu's Audio drivers for the "white" Apex https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/downloads-for-motherboards/drivers-realtek-usb-audio-amd-5xx-6xx-trx40... and they do not work and do not install SS3. They did work perfectly fine on my "white" Z790.

So what gives? Does the new Encore have the SS feature or not?
