Hello, @CJGIANNHS

Regarding memory, we suggest that you consult the guidelines provided in [Motherboard] How to query (CPU/memory) QVL List?
Additionally, please review the "purchasing and installation guide" available in the "Memory" section on the official support page of the ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO.

Thank you.

ROG Care is a support section, moving this to the motherboards section for discussions.

What memory speed are you targeting? Also why not a 2x24GB kit? They seem to be the most popular as of late, and overclock well.

Reason I ask about memory speeds, is if you're at like 7200+ you should probably stick with the Apex/Apex Encore. While I do think the Z790 Hero/Dark Hero Z790 should not really have an issue hitting 7200 it's just hard to say. Where if an Apex/Apex Encore can't hit 7200 there is probably a problem lol. And just because a memory+CPU generation is on the QVL list, does not guarantee it will work, at all.

With that said, if you do start looking the Apex, there are some things to be aware of and to plan for. It is board very much focused on overclocking. While it will work no problem as a "everyday, well featured board", there is no Thunderbolt, only one rear USB-C, only 2 PWM Case fan headers (there are additional, but they only run at full speed), and it disables the iGPU with no way to turn it on, really only important if you have a need for QuickSync.

Bro I did my full check in hero/darkhero/apex.

I don't like that apex got 2 slots for ram. In any case I guess darkhero is the most powerful between these 3 motherboards.

I don't think the thunderbold slot is so big problem I guess..

ASUS says one can do this about that motherboard memory:

Intel says you can support memory with an Intel CPU I9-14900K installed on any motherboard with this memory speed:

If the memory you buy does not work, ASUS will say (point the finger). Did you communicate with Intel about their CPU Integrated Memory Controller (IMC)?

Should I communicate with Intel for what motherboard I'm gonna use?

It depends if you are a tweaker or plug and play.

Tweaker you will make errors and learn.

Plug and play call it a day.
