Upgraded my pc to a Strix z790a gaming WiFi ii and it has been absolutely miserable. I’ve bought 2 sets of ddr5 ram neither of which will cleanly work with the board. I’ve turned XMP on and could get it to boot a few times but now it refuses to even display the Bios screen.

ive tried both GSkill Trident Z5 2x16GB 288pin ddr5 6400 AND Corsair Vengeance Ddr5 2x24gb 7800. I could ONLY get it to boot occasionally on the GSkill.

I took one of the Corsair’s out and can now get it to boot, but would prefer to be able to actually use it all.

Hi @Areszues42
1.Can you confirm if the issues persist at Optimised Defaults with XMP disabled?
2. Are you using a CPU Contact Frame? If so, remove and reinstall the stock retention bracket and retest.
3. Despite assumptions, XMP is not "plug-and-play overclocking". For more info please see here
4. As per the information in the link above, board and memory vendors do not support mixing memory or combining kits (if this is what you're doing).

Without XMP I could get to the bios menu but it wouldn’t boot and would stop sending signal to my monitor.
im unsure about what frame I’m using? I have a be quiet dark rock pro 5, I’ve seen elsewhere that if too tight it messes w boot up so I loosened it a while ago and haven’t had THAT issue pop up since then.
I am not mixing the ram honestly I can only use one or two slots at a time due to an insane oversight on my end when buying a cpu cooler, the fan is wildly too big and covers the 2 leftmost ram slots. I’m in the process of ordering a new system that would let me use the other slots if need be.

If you're unsure, it likely means you haven't replaced the stock retention bracket - which is fine.
I'm unsure of what you mean by wouldn't boot and stops sending signal. Since replacing the motherboard, have you reinstalled Windows?

Like I’d turn it on and all the lights and fans start working and my keyboards and mouse light up but nothing sends to the screen. I have reinstalled windows and bios for the motherboard when I installed it.

From your post it would suggest that the system did POST successfully even with XMP enabled, but now refuses to boot at all.
1. Clear CMOS
2. Insert one module into slot A2.
3. Remove the CPU and cooler. Inspect the socket for debris or damage and remount whilst ensuring for even/consistent mounting pressure.
4. Inspect which if any QLED is lit at time of failure
