Hello All,
I've completed a new build within the last couple of days but I've been struggling to install windows on my pc as it keeps freezing when it gets to the UI setup page.
Build:
I9-14900K
ROG strix z790-E Gamming wifi II
4x32 Trident DDR5-6000MHZ
7900xtx
I have optimized my ram to default speed at 4800MHZ. I have also updated the bios as well
I've gotten motherboard error codes of 35 33 41 and some others relating to RAM or windows not being able to determine the resources needed for the device. I've tried doing 64GB of ram but get the same issue. The PC works and boots properly but the main culprit is not being able to install windows successfully without it freezing. The closest ive gotten to installing it was 85% in the UI before it frozen again. Any Ideas whats going on?

Is there any known compatibilities with the 7900 xtx and this build? I installed my 2060 super and everything is fine

What brand 7900XTX? (maybe it has a firmware update)
PCI-E issue? I would imagine the motherboard allows switching of PCI-E gen, try to manually choose and / or try another slot.
If its on auto try Gen 4, Gen 3...

I see some progress, you should take the AMD GFX out of the motherboard and see how everything goes with only the intel GPU, if all perfectly fine and no crashes, get all the motherboard drivers installed, try web browsing, some videos... And if all good the PC is stable move on to trying the AMD GFX card.
At this point, if it starts to crash you can say 100% there is an issue, might be a compatibility problem or something else. Leaving hardware inside the motherboard also masks a portion of memory so memory testing can be impacted slightly. Imagine the memory is faulty but the faulty address range is being mapped to the AMD GFX card, memtest will pass as it cannot touch this memory range but when the AMD card is in use especially when the driver kicks in things can start to go wrong. This is just a possibility that does happen but equally could be a compatibility issue.

Recent updates from Windows 11 has caused my PC to start freezing to the point where I re-installed a fresh version of windows 10 - no more problems. It could possibly had been an Armory Crate update that did it as well but freezing issues made it so I couldn't use the system.
ROG Strix X570-E
Ryzen 9 5900x
32GB Gskill 3600 Mhz
EVGA 3080 Hybrid
Was running Windows 11 latest update, latest BIO, and temps were 40 celsius for CPU and 45 celsius for GPU. Tested CPU with Ryzen master - passed. Tested Memory with RAM Cache - passed. Checked hard drives with Samsung magician - passed. Ran CMD with SFC /scannow - no issues. Ran CMD with Chkdsk /f /x /r - wouldn't allow it to run. So after that I assumed it was most likely due to Windows 11's updates containing bugs or code which my computer's hardware did not like or . . . idk. Goog luck to all of you.

I followed the post here, I would like to try to help, it seems that there is some problem with the AMD drivers or some incompatibility.
Have you checked if the CPU pins are all correct, none bent?
Is there a chance that you are in multi-GPU mode in the BIOS and that this is causing a conflict between the CPU GPU driver and the AMD GPU? This option must be set to Disabled.
I can't show you this option in the BIOS right now, but I will leave the path I took from the motherboard manual.
I am leaving a link to an AMD driver that is optional and may solve your problem. I also use AMD, and it happens to be the same 7900 XTX Nitro+ card from Sapphire.

it's definitely the xtx i tried my 2060super and it worked fine. I bought a 4.0 riser as i had a 3.0 riser and my ports are 5.0 CPU is fine PC runs fast and smooth. I have a new mobo on the way as one of the ram pins popped out coming in on Tuesday. I will report back once i get it rebuild etc.

Yes, very strange, it could be this riser cable. Very strange behavior, I believe there is some conflict going on.
If you go into safe mode do the same problems happen? Theoretically, if it is a driver or compatibility issue, it should not present problems in safe mode. To take real proof could try some close friend and test that GPU to eliminate any problems.
Good luck!

If you're using a riser cable, disconnect it and install your 7900xtx in the motherboard's first PCIe x16 slot.
Some riser cables have been known to cause issues.
Be sure to shut down your pc and unplug the power supply cable.

@Nate152 this is exactly what just happened to me. I had a bad riser cable, as soon as I installed the Nvidia GPU drivers my system would start boot looping.
Put in another riser cable and everything is honky dory.

Not all riser cables meet the full specifications of the PCIe standard. Personally, although aesthetically they can provide great results for vertical mount, I'd never recommend using one. Of course it's untrue to say all are bad, but you are adding another junction point that's not essential.
