Updated BIOS to 1601 and getting very low FPS 15-20 in all games.

Hello all. For the past week I am having a really weird and annoying issue after updating Bios to v 1601. In all the games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, RDR2, Quake Champions I used to get 100+ FPS. Now I get 15-25 FPS. In addition Windows 11 randomly freezes even outside of games. Sometimes Windows hangs right after it starts. Sometimes an hour or so later simply while using the web browser.

In BIOS in Extreme Tweaker settings I tried leaving everything on default which sets memory on 4000 mhz instead of 4800 mhz. Tried manually settings DRAM frequency to 4800 mhz, and also tried the AEMP profile which sets memory to 5200 mhz. I did not try changing any voltage settings since I am not sure what to set them to.

All of the above did not help. If anyone has any suggestions please respond here. Thanks in advance!

Since BIOS updated all the BIOS settings were reset and I am not sure what exactly was customized in Bios for my system.
Below are the specs of my computer. I bought it prebuilt from a computer store.

ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z690 EXTREME
4 x 16GB Patriot Signature Series DDR5-4800
MSI GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING X TRIO
Intel® Core™ i9-12900K(F)
Windows 11

If that’s 2 different memory kits combined and installed then remove one kit and see what happens.

MZ790A Bios 2002, GSkill F5-8000J3848H16GX2-TZRK, 13900KS, EKWB D5 TBE 300, Seasonic Prime TX-1600 ATX 3.0, Asus Strix 4090 w/ Optimus block, Phanteks Enthoo Elite, Asus Claymore 2, Asus Gladius 3, Asus XG349C, Samsung 990, Windows 11 Pro

All four memory sticks are the same

DIMM1: Patriot Memory PSD516G480081 16 GB DDR5-4800 DDR5 SDRAM
DIMM2: Patriot Memory PSD516G480081 16 GB DDR5-4800 DDR5 SDRAM
DIMM3: Patriot Memory PSD516G480081 16 GB DDR5-4800 DDR5 SDRAM
DIMM4: Patriot Memory PSD516G480081 16 GB DDR5-4800 DDR5 SDRAM

Is there anything else I should check / try?

That is what you seen on the package. But can you confirm that is production in the same production line with the same batch or IC that build. Same model does not meant the build of ram from the same production the same time with the same controller IC. Unless your RAM bought with 4X16GB in the same single package with the same running number such as XXXX1 to XXXX4.

So please try member Hooper64 method to test your ram kit.

How do I test exactly if the memory sticks are the same? Is there software I can use for this?

I read this this article, with some very useful information, but it does not say how to test if memory is the same.

Use only the 2 memory sticks you bought with the Patriot kit. They are matched by the manufacturer. See if just using 2 sticks for a total of 32G of memory solves the gaming problem. Then you can use Ramtest or TM5 from there.
MZ790A Bios 2002, GSkill F5-8000J3848H16GX2-TZRK, 13900KS, EKWB D5 TBE 300, Seasonic Prime TX-1600 ATX 3.0, Asus Strix 4090 w/ Optimus block, Phanteks Enthoo Elite, Asus Claymore 2, Asus Gladius 3, Asus XG349C, Samsung 990, Windows 11 Pro

removed two memory sticks, now running 2x16 with 32 GB total in memory slots DIMM_A2 1st and DIMM_B2 1st as shown in motherboard user manual. The problem with performance in games is still there.

Nvidia geforce experience performance overaly shows Render Latency about 130. Which is extremely high

Going to run memtest86 and reply here with results.

I am still open to any suggestions what else I should check and try.

You might just use one stick of memory to test as well. Is this the kit you bought?

With two memory sticks finished running memtest86 which was booted from USB.

I did not buy memory. I bought a prebuilt computer from a computer store as I said in my initial post.

It is still under warranty, but I have to drive for 800 km to bring it to the store and leave it there for at least a few days so that they would repair it.
