Tighten Timings

I have this GSkill 8400 kit with default 40,52,52 timings working quite well with 1.5V VDD/VDDQ. Tightened the timings some. Any room to go further? 36, 48,48? Is 1.5V adequate?

If the contact frame is incorrectly installed it can cause stress around the socket area. Don't forget the motherboard is an interconnect, if you're stressing the PCB substrate you're interfering with the quality of the signals being carried.

Ok. Makes perfect sense. Never used one then I started to read about them. I will get it changed out and see what happens. Thanks for the explanation. Been trying to figure this out for a month. Appreciate your time. Get it changed out and report back. Thanks

i ordered the KS also. Hopper when you go cpu internal voltage for Ks what  is short is 253 snd cotlre/cash is 307. KS is 320 long snd short. what do you have core/cashe set to? Makes a differential  intel soecd different then Apex Encore MB.

My settings are on Auto for those.

I think you will find the KS has a more robust IMC but there is no guarantee of that. My K chip never was stable above 8000.

It does KS from reading and can run a higher wattage then the K or KF’s 253 watts intel spec. KS is 320 watts. Just curious if you changed them. Thanks

So what do you all suggest to do I now 6600 is stable XMP 1. Want to get it higher if possible. G. Skills has been nice they offered new ram but like to try and get this to work the best I can. I know I need to make some tweaks. What is next recommendation to change to try and raise the frequency on the ram. To get more then 6600.

You likely won’t be able to increase the frequency without a corresponding increase in the VDD/VDDQ voltage. Bumping the SAV has helped with stability too. Hard to know if it will be stable. I think you said your kit is a GSkill 8200? What is the exact model number?

So what should be my first adjustments to make and test?

took little longer than expected Easter and spring break. So took contact plate off and could XMP1 to 7600. I tried a 8400,8200,7800,7200 ram kits. So reading again and came to the conclusion the KF isn’t up to the task. Ordered a KS installed it and every kit will XMP1 now. KF was 98 KS is 120. So installed the KS left it all at default 8400 kit xmp1 works great. Now time to OC the KS. In OCing the KS just did the fast way AI to see what it would do AI OC the cpu does pretty good job. Of course with the 360 AIO cooler score 200 it set the cores at 62/59. I maxed it out 62/62 save and exit blue screen tried it again windows loaded then blue screen. Ok this is CPU related so back it down to 62/60 xmp1 8400 no issues have seen it hit 63/60 at times. Went in and manually input the voltages for CPU temps run about the same as the KF does. But the KS is Smokin fast and I can XMP my ram. At the end of the day just by reading here and testing and spending more money the KF was the weak link.

That was my experience as well. Glad you have it working.
