Tighten Timings

I have this GSkill 8400 kit with default 40,52,52 timings working quite well with 1.5V VDD/VDDQ. Tightened the timings some. Any room to go further? 36, 48,48? Is 1.5V adequate?

Nice to see your stable at 8400 default. 👍

How is DIMM Flex working out,.. I have never tested it, but seems any QVL memory kit should work.

Yea. Took a loooong time and this KS chip of course. I’m thrilled it’s stable finally.

Still messing with settings. Haven’t tried DIMM flex yet. Still testing when work allows. Thanks for your help!!

Same 8400 kit on an Apex Encore can’t get it to XMP. And I have read so much I am lost now. Also first time I have seen anyone using same kit or can’t find info with same kit and board. I know from ready a lot plays into but I see people make no change and it works people make 1 change or 2 or 3 changes and they get it to work. I can’t get it to work at all.

I bumped the VDD/VDDQ voltage to 1.42V before I even tested the initial baseline XMP1 configuration. Had no trouble at all but I am using a 14900ks. What chip are you using? Post your hardware for everyone to review.

Have a 14900KF. Bios 1102.  Apex Encore and ram F5-8200J4052F24GX2-TZ5RK. So you bumped the VDD/VDDQ to 1.42 and left it all at auto and booted into windows or am I misunderstanding you.

XMP 1 at defaults won’t load get Amber light error 55 if I use XMP II at defaults it will boot past the bios screen then try to load into windows and freezes. Just locks up.

Correct, but I’m using a new chip with what appears to be a much better IMC. I had tried 3 prior K chips and none would do 8400. Prior chips ran stably at 8000 but no further.

Saw you had KS. Listen if I can get 8000 with what I got I’m good not worth spending $700 for 400 more. Or maybe it is idk. But how did you even get it stable at 8000?

You still may have a CPU with a weak IMC which may not even do 8000 but you can try. Select XMP1 but then reduce the frequency in the bios to 8000 to see if it will post. Might leave all other settings at default to see if that will work.
