Tighten Timings

I have this GSkill 8400 kit with default 40,52,52 timings working quite well with 1.5V VDD/VDDQ. Tightened the timings some. Any room to go further? 36, 48,48? Is 1.5V adequate?

Hi @Hopper64,

You could load up the DIMM Flex profile and manually select 8400MT? This has tuned terts also.

What's the experience around here with manual settings vs dimm flex? I had forgotten all about dimm flex completely because of my prior issues with the poor IMC on my 14900k chip. This new ks chip has a much more robust IMC. Thanks.

Just looking over requirements for DIMM flex on this page, looks like you need a specific memory kit for that:

Not necessarily, this is just the kits ASUS has tested. The additional profiles are specific to the memory IC.

You can experiment with the stock profile settings or make appropriate amendments to maintain stability when temps are elevated. Adjust frequency accordingly.

Ok. That’s quite helpful. I will be trying that. I don’t know of a monitoring tool that shows memory frequency fluctuations. That would be handy but not sure one exists. Thanks!!

CPU-Z does show the shift in frequency and timings moving from one level to the next, HWINFO requires a restart - at least for me.
