system slow boot with 7900 XTX and TUF Z690 D4

Good morning. As the title says. I don't mean a slow boot from the moment the windows logo appears until all the desktop elements are loaded, then the boot is fast as usual. I mean that it takes a long time to display the asus logo, once displayed the system loads fast as usual.

I say this because it happens since I have the 7900 XTX from AMD, before with a 6900 XT did not happen to me. Let's say I turn on the computer with the 7900 XTX and until the board recognizes everything and shows the ASUS logo, it takes 5 seconds (an example), and with the 6900 XT it took 2. Same overclock in everything (and stable), it is a direct comparison. I do not know if it is a problem of the board (I have the latest bios, the 2204), or a problem of the drivers of the card, although the latter has nothing to do with it, if it were a problem of drivers would start when loading the operating system and there as I said everything goes fast as usual, let's say that since the Windows logo until the desktop loads and the elements, there is everything fast. This happens both when I turn on cold, as when I restart the computer, the summary is that it takes a long time to appear the ASUS logo.

I hope I explained myself well hahaha. Greetings!

P.D - Let's say that in the process of the LEDs on the board when the system starts, starts the red LED, then goes to orange and finally to white ... then the white color disappears and should already show the logo of the board (tuf gaming in this case) after 2 seconds as happened before with the 6900 XT, because now it takes 5 or so, more or less to that I mean

Hello sir, basically I had the same problem with my 7900xtx and found the solution.
So what you need to do is to have 3 separate cables from your PSU to your GPU. Because 1 cable can provide only 150w and 7900xtx goes over 400w normally.

You can thank me later 😄

Must be the GPU then, perhaps it is doing some self checks or negotiating a working state with the BIOS. You could make sure that the GPU firmware is up to date, but personally I wouldn't bother if it's all working. The small risk of a failed firmware update probably isn't worth the small time saving, assuming it helps.

My 690 Hero takes 32 seconds to POST and then another 15 secs until the Windows login screen. I think these times are fairly typical on many of the 690 boards.
Z690 Hero, 12900K, BIOS 4001, MEI 2433.6.3.0, ME Firmware 16.1.35.2557, 7000X Case, RM1000x PSU, ASUS TUF OC 3090TI, 2 x 16GB Corsair RAM @ 5200MHz, Windows 11 Pro 23H2, Corsair H150i Elite AIO, 4x Corsair RGB fans, 3x M.2 NVME drives, 2x SATA SSDs, 2x SATA HDs.

Good morning. I'm updating the thread to say that I flashed the bios of the graphics card to a newer version of the manufacturer (XFX), and everything remains the same, bios post very slow. From the time the red led on the board comes out until it turns green, it takes 5 seconds or so, with the previous 6900 XT that was done in a second. I don't know if I have to change some parameter in the bios of the board or what.

Best regards

Hi there. Taking advantage of cleaning, maintenance and an upgrade (put a raid of 2 crucial mx500 of 4tb), I did what you said, feed the GPU with 3 cables. It improved the load time a bit, yes, you can say that it is a partial solution. I say this because even going faster, it is still a little bit below the fast boot time I had with the previous 6900 xt from Asrock.

Anyway thank you very much, if that improved something if. Best regards!

Hello!. Ok, thank you very much. One day when I have to do maintenance and cleaning I will try this solution. I seem to remember that I have 1 double cable and 1 single cable, let's see if I can find another single cable and do as you say. Greetings and thanks!

Yeah, there are many reports of similar issues with 7900 XT and 7900 XTX cards on AMD's boards.
