Hardware:

Mobo: Rog Strix Z-690-E

CPU: I9-13900k

Ram: GSkill DDR5 6600

SSD: 2x Samsung 990 pro 1tb(non raid)

1x 980 pro 500gb

GPU: Evga 3090ti FTW3 ultra

PSU: Rog Thor 2 platinum 1200

CPU AIO: Phantecs Glacier 360

In short I've been a computer tech/ network admin for 20 years and I've exhausted most the typical remedies like going barebone with only a single add and no gpu. So, I've had all these parts, except the cpu, since April of 2022. Got the cpu last November after 13th gen was released. I've been using it without any OC and just XMP since. I havnt had any issues since switching from the 12700k I had previously.

Over the last 2 weeks my system has been either giving a bsod or just restarting without warning. I tried monitoring the system more closely and the last 2 days I've found the vcore is ramping up to 1.5v under idle conditions and going as high as 1.7v. Once it hits 1.7 it crashes or blue screens. I've been trying to tweak the voltages but have yet to get it stable.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so how did you fix it or tweak the bios to work with it?

If you need to set SVID to worst case / Failsafe and the situation improves I would lean towards the CPU being the issue.

Hello,

XMP constitutes as an overclock. Can you confirm what UEFI revision you’re on?

Update to the latest from the support site and also see if the behaviour continues at Optimised Defaults (this includes no XMP).

Currently it's running version 2305. It's been on that since March when it came out without issue. After loading the optimal settings, I have to turn the svid to failsafe for it to load into windows. It's not stable though, if I turn off the multicore enhancer and set the pcores to 5.0 or lower, it'll become stable for me to actually run programs in windows.

Optimal settings?

The default bios setting. Basically 1 in 5 tries without going to the failsafe svid, it'll actually load into windows. Most the time is bsod during windows load.

What are your temps like? Can you check under AI Tweaker for voltages and SP score? CPU sounds like the issue, makes sense given that's what's changed.

Indicated temp in bios at idle is 31*. Most games I play, it'll hover in the low 50s. I never do anything too crazy with it. I do a decent amount of vm work with it, but that doesn't push it. Pcore sp is 107, Ecore sp is 76. Sadly that was kinda what I was leaning toward and don't want to face that reality. Gonna be a week before I can get another comparable cpu to test it.

If you need to set SVID to worst case / Failsafe and the situation improves I would lean towards the CPU being the issue.
