(SOLVED) on boot, often shows "press F2 or Delete to enter BIOS", briefly or not at all

just built new box with Asus Prime Z790-V WIFI.

flashed BIOS  1645. Can't remember if prob started then (came w 1410 if I recall correctly.

Sometimes even hammering delete doesn't catch it. Going from "restart" or power off. There is a delay setting in BIOS and I set it first to 6 and now to 9. Now once in a while it will sit there for 9 seconds. Other times I might see that screen for 1 sec if at all.

noob here so don't know what other info you might want.

Other than that, this board is outstanding! THANKS

EDIT - after a lot of fussing The blame goes squarely on the Dell S3221QS monitor - it takes at least 8 seconds to recognize that there is a signal on the HDMI. If I want the BIOS, I simply tap Delete during boot and it catches it. Thanks all! Great board! Flies!

Yes, I was going to suggest that. I have the same delay with my monitor. Glad you sorted it.
