Slow boot time ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming WiFi D4

Very slow boot time in Windows 11, 56 sec. I have the following hardware.

ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming WiFi D4 1003 bios
12900k
nvidia rtx 3090
64 corsair 3600 ddr4

I tried a Msi Edge z690 edge board and it booted in less than 30 sec with this same hardware. Setup defaults in bios except xmp is on for the memory, and fast boot is on. Any ideas what could make it take so long to boot up?

in windows pres win+r type in msconfig, click boot tab, click advanced tab, enable all cores.

in windows open power settings, check min state cpu percentage depending on cooling and usages i would set it to 60% or flat out 100% all the time.

device manager, system devices, disable high precision event timer.


You will notice how much quicker your system runs. It might help assist in boot times. My system on 12900k 32gb dd4, m.2 4x, 3090 posts in about 8 seconds. You could try minimizing the self-checks in the bios as well.

Same problem here and msconfig did not solve the problem.

asus rog strix z690 a slow boot if asus ko rtx 3060 12gb v2 is installed but if i installed my asus rog strix rtx 2060S it will boot fast. Why? I need some advise regarding on this issue

Problem solve i just reupdate uefi firmware / bios

I mean if your system takes 8 seconds to post that is pretty normal. Idk what's up with this motherboard but the entire POST process is just waaaaaaay to long!

Audio driver. I just run Windows default audio, otherwise boot is much slower.

Confirmed. Uninstalling ASUS's realtek drivers, along with Sonic Studio or anything else will substantially reduce Windows load times. I used DDU to remove Realtek Drivers and Revo Uninstaller to remove Sonic Studio. Boot time went from 56 Seconds to 29. I still have that awful 25 sec post, though, but Windows booting in 5 seconds is a big improvement. Once you uninstall everything and restart the first time, Windows will install its own Realtek drivers, which load much much faster. You lose the EQ that's in Realtek Audio Control, but you can just install Peace EQ and it will do a fine job. After a few reboots, it'll load quick.

There's apparently a Context Restore setting in the BIOS DRAM menu on certain ASUS motherboards that can fix this, but it's not available on the Z690-A D4. So we just wait and see if they release a BIOS update that will speed up boots.
